With new cap, we can sign kj depending on his offer from another team. We are waiting for kj to sign before we sign smith. I'm sure we want to use our mle on him. (For what he brings, more than worth it and as a valuablr trade asset).
Hmm. That is a better offer than the Rockets, although I don't know if that would be enough to lure him away. I'm not even gonna attempt to calculate how much more he'd actually be making once you factor in state income taxes(for 41 home games at least) and whatever his Detroit salary does to offset that. If someone else wants to though, be my guest.
That's like $1.5MM more after figuring in taxes. I don't think the potential role increase is big enough to warrant that but then again it isn't my money so who am I to talk.
the longer he goes without an offer, the more the market will dry up, the better the chance he accepts the $2.5M offer.
Especially since he'll get some of that money back if the Rockets go on another deep playoff run(which is unlikely in Sactown).
Can't believe you guys worry about the Kings which no player is interested to join instead of Mavs....lol
Order of Operations Clutchfans, I am probably being captain obvious here but I think things probably have to move in this order: - We probably need to use Terrence Jones plus something to get a PG. - We don't want to deal Terrence Jones until we know whether we have Josh Smith. - We don't know if we can sign Josh Smith until we know if we have just the vet minimum, or have the MLE. - We won't know if we have the MLE until KJ McDaniel is signed or SnT'ed. Of course, KJ could be used to deal for a PG, but in any case, we need the domino to fall on KJ (figuratively). So, it seems we need news of KJ McDaniel for things to begin happening. Again, Sorry if this is captain obvious, but I think this is right, right?
Makes sense to me, seeing as Smoove hasn't signed anymore yet, I would imagine he wants to come back and is waiting for us to get it done on our end. I just worry that someone (probably the Kings or Mavs) will offer a deal to him that's too good to pass up. Leaving us with Jones and no point guard. I get that Morey likes to have insurance (trade for McDaniels in case we trade Ariza or Brewer, don't trade Jones until we have Smith etc.)- but I also worry that some other, less rational team, will make a rash decision and we'll lose McDaniels and/or Smoove to a bidding war.
If Cuban were as smart as we thought he was he would've used that 13 million extra he paid Matthews and put it on top of an offer Smoove couldn't refuse. #stupidrich
i'm sure there's a convoluted reason for this (paging bima thug) but it baffles me how the lakers can offer a second round pick for hibbert and that's it? granted hibbert's stock is way low at the moment but i keep seeing these trades like pablo + t jones + k-pap for some middling wing player and it's like...really? can't we just dump a second rounder and get lawson?? (joking....sort of)
I kind of wonder the same **** some time. Like why get rid of hibbert for a second rounder while only shopping him around for a short while? Good question really.
Because the trade from the Pacers standpoint is 2nd round pick + $15 mil capspace. If I told you the Pacers got Monte Ellis and Jordan Hill, that would be closer to the actual trade.
