Two years ago, the team management to proceed with the team in the reconstruction, but the coach did not agree with management's business direction. In such a situation, or the management get out, get out or the coaching staff. Morey should have fired Adelman two yeas ago because The coaching staff has been seriously divided with the team management direction
How about the fact that despite all his winning ways, he sucked horribly at game management the past few seasons, only has 2 finals to show for it, and is going to be a very high priced coach at a time where the possibility of a lockout next year is very high.
When it comes to guys in leadership positions like Morey's, you don't bother considering things like opportunities, only results. He hasn't delivered on results. If he hasn't had a legitimate opportunity yet to get one of these superstar players in a trade, well then maybe trying to build the team by trading for a superstar was a bad idea. Maybe he should have been tanking instead. It was his choice to go this way, and if it fails that means he fails. I'm happy to give Morey a little more time to make this plan work. Probably this offseason and the next trade deadline before I completely turn on him. But, take the weaksauce no-opportunities excuse out of here. Do you want to be defending Morey after 10 more years of mediocre teams, saying "he's done a great job of keeping the team on the cusp, and when the right opportunity comes up, he's going to cash in his chips for a superstar!"?
A couple of points: * No Superstars available to build the foundation DM talked about in the press conference * This is an average team, who's defense is below average * Coach must deal with constant juggling of roster by DM to get to his perceived idea of a talented team * Who knows when DM will be able to pull that off * Last but not least, we're in the Western Conference. You need 48 wins to get into the playoffs, some years 50.
yea, will deff keep an eye out for it but he's just another former rockets player now and I do wish him well.
? I don't understand if you're using info you don't want to use to augment your point. Someone being HOF, finals, 8 winningest, best in team history isn't there to support the statement you are making.

maybe its that the other team thinks that what morey values to be gold...as trash? Its quite simple, teams do trades when returns are good enough. we have little on our roster to offer for a star.
All that means is he does good during the regular season. All the good teams know that it's post season success that matters. You guys are making Rick out to be a coaching god. All his wins amounted to only 2 finals appearance and doing decent during the season does not excuse all his poor decisions or lack of decisions during the game. He is a good preparations coach, but I would not count on him to execute anything decent during the game. If we had a player that can take over the game when RA inevitably gets lost, but we don't even have that luxury. Do I think there is an immediately better coach out there? Who knows. I just know I was ready to move on from RA by mid season.
Or teams won't want to do a trade with a team in their own conference. Which is what both the Jazz and Nuggets stated when they did their trades.
It is the power of media or propaganda. People are brainwashed by "Morey is God" and "Les is willing to spend" nonsenses.
Morey is like a conservative poker player. He's never off the table, doesn't let you know his moves, play a consistent, low-risk/high reward game, always thinking about the next few hands to come. Oh, and has a killer poker face. These sorta guys can take multiple **** hands and eventually turn the game around and win. I have faith in Morey. His people skills may need some work, but damn can he manage a team even when given **** to work with. He finally gets his fresh start as a GM, all the pre-Morey contracts are off the books (Yao and Chuck). This is his chance to prove himself, and by what he's shown us thus far... I choose to trust him.
And don't worry... There will a lot of posters choking on crow soon enough. Maybe we should put some tipjar money on it... Like a big group bet where CF ultimately profits.
This was Les vs. Adelman and not Morey vs. Adelman so not sure why the board is debating Morey/Adelman
I learned long ago not to doubt Morey. I was pissed at drafting Brooks and Landry, and I ate crow. I was pissed about trading Rafer for Kyle Lowry, and I ate crow. I was skeptical about drafting Patrick Patterson, and I'm partially eating crow. I was skeptical about trading for Goran Dragic, and in 3 starts he flirted with a triple double twice, and the third time was the charm. Why can't people believe that Rick leaving was mutual? He deserves to coach a winner, not a team with question marks like the current Rockets.
I haven't turned on him, though I am being pretty critical of him today. I honestly think the coaching change is a mistake, so there's no need to just trust Morey's making all the right decisions. Even though I think he's a good GM who should stick around, I also think he's made more mistakes than he's given blame for. And this is where I think most of his mistakes are made. He's good with horse-trading. He's good at the draft. He's not good at managing people. I think a lot of our early losing is attributable to insecurity he had sown. I think his position trying to protect the team's payroll from bad contracts has poisoned the well in their relationships with guys like McGrady and Brooks, and with the coaches. I think he has a lot of room for improvement here.
Because people (especially sports fans) are generally short-sighted idiots. If Adelman had been fired in January, I bet people here would have been rejoicing.
