I think that Cousins has a better trade value because of the age factor and the cheap contract, so SAC is likely not going to trade him for Howard.

DeMarcus isn't anywhere near as athletic. You would be fooling yourself if you thought so. He's more like Dmo in Skillset and play only multiple times better.

Gotta love how you kids are so easily distracted by shiny objects.

The Rockets are now in that precious and elusive championship contender window so why would they take a step backward?
The team did not become serious title threats until their focus shifted from the run and gun offense of 2013 to the defensive minded squad of 2015 and now some of you are seriously suggesting they trade their best defensive player for more offense.

Never mind the PR damage that would come from trading the biggest free agent signing in franchise history after only 2 seasons despite the fact he turned the team into a top seed in the West and helped lead them to their first conference finals appearance in nearly 2 decades.

In addition to that, you would be trading a player who has been a model teammate since arriving in Houston and made concessions for the betterment of the team
for a player would can, at best, be described as a wild card.

I like DeMarcus Cousins and can appreciate that he has more "upside" than Dwight at this stage.
However, when comparing experience, fit, and role plus given how fleeting the championship window can be, I don't think exchanging Howard for Cousins gets the Rockets closer to their ultimate goal right now.

Yeah, let's shop Harden for Durant or LeBron. Silly 8 year old talk.
You don't shop your superstar when there is absolutely nothing wrong with them. This is wrong for so many reasons.

TBH if this was not real life, I would do a Dwight for Cousins trade all day. Love what Dwight has brought to our team but he is on the decline. He is still dominant but Cousins is just hitting his prime.

Of course there are reason why we can't trade Dwight unless he wants out.

I wouldn't do a Harden for LBJ trade, though. Even though LBJ is the better player, Harden is younger and is someone you can build around for another 5 to 8 years. LBJ has played more professional basketball, minutes wise, than Magic, Bird and other legends even though he is just in in 12th year in the league.

We were 2nd to GS in pace last season.

Run and gun is still our strategy. We just added players who could defend as well as run.

Harden and Boogie on the same team "will do wonders for team chemistry".

Did I really just read that? That really just happened?

I'm one for thinking that Cousins isn't better than Howard at this point. Its easy to look like a top player (stat wise) when you're on a crappy team. Same situation for Kevin Love...dude could almost average 20 rebounds on the Timberwolves but doesn't look very good when the Cavs start getting stacked with talent. (Cousins is still a great player don't get me wrong but I think Howard is just the better choice at this time). Things will change if Cousins and Rondo can propel that team into the playoffs...even as an 8 seed

Exactly my point. Offense is not an area of need.

I did not say the team sacrificed one for the other. I pointed out that their status as contenders rose when the focus went from simply outscoring opponents to actively getting stops.
Defense has been central to this team's ascension so why would you trade the league's best defensive anchor for another offensive minded player?

    Shiny objects

I would give Cousin an advantage here that he has never lost a single playoff game ever, but Dwight playoff mode so far is quite impressive
