Deron Williams, Beskitas HOF'er and alltime European basketball great, sulked and didn't want to go to NJ/BKY - now he's probably going to stay, and they're Dwight Howard's city du jour....just sayin...
While your description of Deron made me laugh, he is not in the same class. 1) Doesn't have the same name cache as Paul, Howard, Melo 2) Not as big of a baby as those three 3) Had more than one season left when he was moved 4) Never threw down the gauntlet the way Melo and Paul did
chris broussard said on sports center last nitethe rockets offered a bunch of players the hornets didnt want in a 2 team deal for paul and they rejected so we got la involved
If the Rox believe that they Gasol+Nene was a real possibility for them and that they could have built a winner with that, why wouldn't they jump at the possibility?
we couldn't get paul with those players, so we thought it would be nice for the lakers to have him.
i guess we're defining "winner" differently. if pau were 5 years younger, i'd feel differently about this.
What's funny is that on the Lakers board, they actually like the 2-team trade with Houston. Basically Gasol for Scola and Martin.
Well it's either this or attempt to tank. What do you think Les would do? The fans will stop coming if this team doesn't make any moves. It's an obvious white flag. The trade and signing Nene would build up the fan base for at least 2 years while Morey puts more pieces in place.
I know what Les would do. That's my problem. As Clutch pointed out in that blog, this is the season to do it. 66 game season. Deep draft class. This trade and bringing in Nene is not the kind of sexy move that moves tickets. I'm sorry..it's not. And it hamstrings Morey from being able to do what he knows he needs to do to make this team a true contender.
That's where I come out. If Pau were younger, or the prize was something more than Nene, this move would be brilliant. We know Pau can be an ok #2 with a superstar alpha dog. Nene has never been anything more than a #3 or 4 option on a team that only once got out of the first round. So we'll make them our #1 and #2 option and expect a deep playoff run?
So what your saying is that Morey doesn't want to do this move and His evil twin is behind all of this? That would be a more logical explanation than the one you're about to give me.
