In fact, the spurs also gave Jefferson an extension. He didn't play well last season, but he and the spurs worked the thing out. We all know that the spurs have the best record this season.

After the season and only after RJ opted out of his deal. I get what your saying about both organizations but what did AB exactly do to earn a contract extension? Manu and TP have done it year after year along with being part of championship contenders. One good season doesn't entitle you to an extension, look at Jeff Green in OKC as a nice example, he has had multiple good seasons and no extension was given.

i don't think fans should blame it all on brooks.

    1) after he won MIP and put up a great season, the organization didn't give him an extension. THAT'S HUGE. you think the organization would reward you with something after a near all-star season.

    2) got an injury, and lost the starting job. it's basically a slap in the face that you lose your starting job due to an injury. it tells you something.

so again, people can say he's a professional athlete and is getting paid millions, and all that. sure, we can all sit back and see things that way. but put yourself in his shoes. he's a competitor. and it's rational if he feels slighted by the organization.

again, even if we offer him an extension now, he's not going to sign it. both sides are done. it's time to move on.

although i feel brooks has played terrible, i feel we can't blame it all on him if this situation ends ugly.

we were a better team last year than this year right now. and that was with brooks as our leading scorer. and we are more talented this year. it tells you a lot about brooks' importance to this offense when he is clicking on all cylinders (which he hasn't been).

jeff green was a 3rd wheel. he's not very important in their grand scheme of things. after last year, and how brooks exploded onto the scene, and how morey says he's a championship-caliber starting PG, you would think he would be part of our future. and we have done nothing to make sure he's part of our future.

basically, what this situation tells you is there is no loyalty in sports. as fans, we should not diss a professional athlete if they do what is best for their career. why? b/c the organization will do what is best for them.

I call it the CUTTINO MOBLEY rule.

He took less to stay with the Rockets
and then was rewarded by being traded not too long afterwards.
He showed Loyalty . . the Rockets showed him NONE.

So you would have stayed with Francis/Mobley instead of getting McGrady?

Look, everyone has to make the best decision for themselves. It's not like the Rockets promised never to trade Mobley in order to rope him into re-signing. He knows the business.

    Actually, I would have.
The Rockets at the time was on the cusp

we traded the starting PG, SG, and PF
we got back a Start SG . . . and until recently
have DESPERATELY BEEN LOOKING for a replacement PG and PF.
never really found them in the McGrady Era.

P.S. I would not have made the Barkley trade either.
    Never liked that trade.

Not going to pretend I know whats going on, but if everything is as it appears we need to stop running talented players out of town.

While we can blame Brooks. . . and it maybe his fault.
I do wonder what the Reputation of the Rockets is among players.

The Rockets cannot afford to become Cleveland

What exactly were we on the cusp of?

Not to mention calling Cato a starting PF is.......lulz. Just............lulz.

Then get it back by proving that you're better than Lowry. Brooks has not proven at all he's better than Lowry this year, why should he have the starting spot? Because he'll pout? HE, of all people, should know that's bs, as the only reason he wasn't starting for the Rockets by December of 2008 was that Rafer would have thrown a hissy fit had that happened.

Brooks is not Parker Or Manu who have Championship experience and are big parts of the reason the Spurs have rings. Brooks is not even T-mac who was a scoring champ in the NBA a couple of times and had name recognition. The reality is Brooks is still on his rookie contract and money wise this is a big year for him and he is not producing.

I think he wants to be the man on the court to bad. Did you see when he got fouled and got up screaming like he had just dunked on somebody last night. Right now Brooks thinks he is more than what he is in this league.
He needs to go back to that I'm happy just to have got drafted state of mind and do what ever the Rockets need to get himself more minutes on the court.

The Rockets/Morey see this in him and this can't help Brook's case. Best believe when that stud comes along Les and Daryl will take care of them. Just like OKC did Durant. He(Durant) has done nothing in the league(Rookie of the year! Whoopty Do!) but he is who the fans come to see and he is your best shot at making your team elite. Brooks is not our best shot right now and shouldn't be treated like he is. He is role player forced in to producers role. He will learn to be humble. Not sure it will be with Houston though.

I agree, but they are what they are.

Most if not all talented players have "b****" moments.

Not sure how anyone can blame the Rox organization on this one. The guy QUIT on his team, if your not happy with your contract then bust your A$$ and prove you deserve some cash here or somewhere else. If it's about playing time, Adelman has openly said that he is trying to get you going, heck he almost sacrificed the Jazz game to try and get you more playing time.

Actually, I don't think the rockets organization make the best decision for themselves. I think the spurs organization made the best decision for themselves last summer by extending Parker, Manu, & RJ. That is the reason why the spurs have the record now. Old players feel the organization treat them fairly, and young player can see the hope. They all give their 100% right now. After all, nba players are human beings.

I'm trying to figure out how the Rockets are WRONG here.

All people do when they get here is **** up, quit, etc.

The Hakeem thing be damned, all we've seen is b****assness rear its ugly head.

Yup, like Scola, Lowry, and Landry.

All of em quit, walked away from the squad and threw a temper tantrum like 4 year olds.

    Okay, let's review your cases:
    1. They didn't extend Parker.
    2. Spurs extended RJ explicitly because he was willing to cut his salary drastically for this year in exchange for long term security. If Brooks is willing to play for 4 million, I'm sure we would have no problems extending him. But he doesn't.
    3. Ginobilli is a future HoF, and is a top 3 SG in this league. If we had a player at his level, I believe there is a significant chance we would extend him for the right price.

So it's completely different from a guy who's acting like a malcontent. Seriously, the guy's doing crap even T-Wack never did, and people are claiming the Rockets for this? please.

Is the OP some kind of sad joke?

I love how the organization handles extensions. It weeds out the weak, and rewards the strong. If you can't bring your best when the pressure is on and your job is on the line, how much do you deserve? And if you wilt to the challenge completely? Why would we want to resign you at all?

Do the players trust the organization? Why don't you ask Lowry and Scola. They played their asses off and got PAID. In fact, some of the same guys blaming the organization now were the ones saying we OVERPAID for those two. Yet because they showed the organization that we could trust THEM, they were rewarded for it, even if it was for a little extra.

Hey OP you got it backwards. The Rockets are the employers. The players are the employees. If you are not a top 10 player in the league, no one gives a flying **** what you think or who you trust. Your ass will be shipped off to whichever team will have you. For the vast majority of cases, it is the employees job to prove their trustworthiness to the guys writing them their paychecks.

    Welcome to the real world.
