Drawing conclusions for a guy that has 21 total field goal attempts is pointless. TS% and PER are meaningless for a sample size that small.
Yeah, it's a simple rotation change while Dwight is still on his minutes restriction. Anyway we did play Dorsey as the starter before when Dwight was still out. Start the quarters with Dorsey, and pull him after 4-5 min and put in Dwight. Heck, every team has been hacking Dorsey/Capela the last two weeks or so. This will stymie that strategy.
I tweeted it to Morey and Bull already. I hope they find it workable. We need to do something while giving Dorsey/Capela some run.
I haven't seen anyone say that, honestly -- maybe I'm just missing it. My comments are not regarding this game in particular. I don't think Joey has lost us any one game so far.... I think it's very difficult to point to any one guy and place 100% of the blame on him for any loss this season. But I do think that the hacking strategy makes Joey a liability going forward without DMo available. To suggest that he has no effect on the outcome of games simply because he's slotted into the "third string center" category doesn't make much sense to me. Anybody getting rotation minutes can effect the outcome of any given game.
Well, Dorsey has experience playing with the starters. Capela not so much. Capela is too much of a stretch for McHale to trust in such an important game. But if Dorsey is getting outrebounded, yeah, I'll try him.
Exactly. The people implying that Dorsey has no real effect on the game because he doesn't play that much are missing the point entirely. He's so bad from the free throw line and not good enough in other areas to make up for his awful free throw percentage. That makes him a liability out there. He really isn't worth playing at this point. I'll be glad when they lift the minutes restriction on Dwight. Can't really afford to be playing Dorsey.
IDGAF about how bad Capela's FT% is... give that boy confidence and let him stay in the game, and watch him start jellin. If it takes him fouling out to start getting the feels for the game, it'll all be worth it at the end. I'm 100% sure he scared people driving to the lane than Dorsey. That alone should be worth putting him in the game over Dorsey. Risk takers don't get anywhere in life. McHale isn't going anywhere.
Capela at least has length, something we can use against almost any playoff opponent! Rudy T would've used Capela, he took risks and it paid off, McHale loves to keep it safe.
Going back to last year when we swept the Spurs, Dwight was 100% healthy in that sweep we had, right? IMHO, coaching had nothing to do with sweeping the Spurs last year. Our talent swept the Spurs. When the going gets rough, McHale has no idea what to do... with Dwight on minutes restriction right now, McHale's completely clueless useless and everything else. We have a guy in Capela who has length and rim blocking skill, yet McHale is stubborn and doesn't want to use him. Yes, Capela hasn't hit a free throw yet, but the sample size is too small.... he needs to play Capela more minutes to see how valuable he truly is, even if that means him getting fouled out to making Capela understand what needs to be done. Who cares if Capela is young, he's in the NBA for a reason, because there's something he has that someone doesn't. McHale needs to start taking risks... learn from Rudy T.
This is what people never seem to grasp in these discussions. A rookie may be brimming with talent but no coach with aspirations of winning is going to give extended minutes to a player who still doesn't know where he needs to be on the floor. Those missed rotations mess up the whole scheme on both sides of the court. There's no such thing as a coach who doesn't "like rookies". If they can help you win and they grasp the scheme's quickly they play, until that happens they don't. If Wiggins had stayed in Cleveland do people really believe that he would've gotten extended minutes to "work out the kinks" during an important stretch of games?
So you guys want to throw in a super raw rookie into the fire where playoff bound teams, like the Spurs, are clicking on all cylinders and expect to get good results?
JUST STOP... Noone has been able to stop San Antonio... Suffice to say, they've got every team scoped out on defensive schemes. Ours is pretty easy to figure out... take out Harden. Howard is only about 60% Let him get his points concentrate on the D on Harden. Plus DMO is out. Protect the perimeter, Spurs win.
yeh...and to be fair these are our backup-backups... if Dmo was healthy they'd rarely see the court. ::sigh:: Howard/Dmo TJones/Smith Ariza/Brewer Harden/Terry Beverley/Prig why do the basketball gods hate us so much...
Dorsey, Capela, or go small. Any of those 3 options have major issues. The injuries have destroyed our rotations.
