Why doesn't JVG stop with this stupid line-up?

    1. Wesley's durability is questionable coming off knee surgery. His shot still hasn't come around. Maybe it will, maybe it won't. I Agree on saving JB & DA. That leaves alot of minutes for Head. So far, he has proved he can and will take the shot at crunch time. I kind'a like him at SG if his defense holds up. I like Skip-to-my-Lou at PG. With his entry passes Yao has scored a point-a-minute so far. TMac is TMac, no worries.

    2. We got Stro to cover Yao's back 'cause JHo couldn't. Why would you say they click together. I much prefer what I have seen of Stro so far. Yao and Stro + Deke and JHo is a good thing. Deke and JHo could start for most NBA teams.

I've enjoyed reading this thread more than I have any other over the last several weeks. True, it's preseason and JVG has a lot of variables he needs to figure out and I trust he will.

But I'm already getting ill listening to JVG's whining. Worse, T-Mac and even Barry are spouting the "gospel". JVG's quotes from Sunday are just pathetic: apparently Eddie George achieved some objectives and the world according to JVG was that neither team accomplished anything.

Not only "woe is us" but I guess Wiz stinks no matter what you do.

It's cool, but I can't take JVG as seriously as many here do. We do have a loaded roster and I hope JVG is feeling some pressure. The poor guy desperately doesn't want to play Head 12 minutes a game. I almost feel for him.

I think it's going to be a rough start and many here will unjustly attack JVG IMHO. But at this very moment I wish he'd lay off the caffeinated Diet Coke and make 7-Up his.

These two quotes pretty much sum up how I have felt the last 2 pre-season games. While I understand he is experimenting with lineups, the main lineup I wanted to see (and the one I believe will be most effective during the regular season Yao/Swift/Tmac/Anderson/Alston) I haven't seen together AT ALL. I only wanted to see them together just 5 minutes, briefly to see how they looked on the floor together. Through 6 games I still haven't seen how they look together and JVG is complaining about how we're playing. I know JVG does this anyway but how can you evaluate a lineup when they aren't on the floor together? It also really seems as if JVG is resisting starting Swift perhaps to push Swift to play better than he has so far but I haven't seen Swift next to Yao to really pass judgment either. I'm really confused as to what JVG is attempting right now with the lineups he's putting on the floor. I'm keeping the faith in JVG for now but I swear, if we don't get off to a nice start (which is basicly a requirement with us being in the Southwest Conference) I'm going to point out, "Well yeah we're not playing that well because during the pre-season JVG didn't put the main lineups together enough time for them to learn each other's playing style and offensive/defensive tendencies i.e. where they need the ball, struggles shooting outside a certain range, etc. I have faith in JVG to figure this lineup out before the pre-season though.

It's amazing how all the fans think VG is a bad coach and has no idea what he is doing... and the majority of Rocket players think he's the best thing since sliced bread. Come on... you have to trust what VG is doing. Tell me what happened last year in the Dallas series???? The pick and roll.... How did it work so well??? TMac brought the ball up, and there was Ming for the pick. It worked then, it will work in the upcoming season. The pick and roll will be even better because Stro will be sitting waitng for the backdoor pass for the easy slam. It's simple if you know the game of basketball. VG knows that the pick and roll for TMac will NOT work unless he has the ball at the top of the key. Trust me... I know the game.

I think very few people think he's a bad coach, but either trolls or the few that actually do not like JVG love to voice their opinion.

Turn the question into a poll (Like, Dislike, Don't Know) and see what you get?

I agree anytime you have a coach with all of the players playing like a team he's a great coach. Now win us a championship Van Gundy!

If Alston goes down JVG & CD will now know they'll have to make a trade rather move Tracy to the point. Better find out now than during the season.

(Knuckles crack) So we're going to run the high-screen p'n'r and we're unbeatable? No one is saying JVG isn't a great coach and won't push the right buttons. What I am saying is JVG has the press and many of us here looking ridiculously gloomy. More power to him.

If you want T-Mac to bring the ball up I don't have a problem with that except: After JVG had said McGrady is "maybe the best pg in the NBA" he offers up this bromide from Sunday's night's mess, er game: "The only thing I don't like (about TMac playing point-forward) is it starts him off in the game being more of a passer instead of the mentality of being a scorer. I don't like that part."

Gee whiz. I'll trust you derrick, since you know the game, but how can you expect us to put up with this drivel when it's essentially meaningless?

Preseason wins were important, according to JVG, before we started off 5-0. And then we really sucked and JVG wanted all of us to believe him. I didn't and I don't.

We're in for a rough ride early in the season even if we start 3-0 at home, and I won't be calling for JVG's head at the end of November no matter what happens.

But at this moment he's seriously yanking my chain.

Personally, I wished that T-Mac wouldn't play point forward. I think that it kinda ruins the element of surprise. What I mean is, If Alston took the ball up the court, his passing options are greater than T-Mac. Alston could make a move and have 3 legit scoring options, not counting Wesley. If he tosses it to T-Mac and T-Mac gets doubled up, then Yao or Stro should be pretty open.

I also think that T-Mac might utilize the clock more than Alston, because he has to search for a shot first.

    Of course that's just me.
