where is the proof that he is a good jump shooter in the 4th. I love how someone brings up Jordan. Show me how Jordan's 3 point percentage is relevant? I'm talking about Jump Shots. Everyone loves to ignore the statistics. The facts are facts. LeBron can't make jumpers in the 4th quarter. Unless Poppovich runs his gimmick defense and gives LBJ 6-8 feet of space in game 7.
Statistics say LeBron is a better shooter than Kobe in the 4th. And we all know that isn't necessarily representative of their overall skills as shooters. Try watching the games before screaming out STATS STATS STATS buddy. Anyways I think this quote: really speaks about how much he's matured ever since his debacle in the finals against Dallas. Not only is he not concerned about playing hero ball in the 4th, he's not afraid to make mistakes and he sure as hell doesn't care about his "clutch" rating when he can just come back and tell everyone else to look at the scoreboard for the past two seasons. I don't know where the perception is that superstars HAVE to take the game winning shot no matter what.
Ha RedRedemption show us the proof. And for one, LeBron is the best paint scorer in the NBA. So if you look at field goal percentage, then I do believe LBJ has a higher one than Kobe. If we look strictly at jumpshots, I want some proof. Now here's a player known to be clutch:
Fact is, you sir could not be more wrong. Jump shots are inclusive of 3 pointers. You mentioned Jordan earlier, but then talk about how irrelevant is when somebody else brings it up. Nobody can give him any space anymore. That's the only chance they had of guarding him. Some went in and some didn't. I'll be shocked if he shoots anything less than 60% in the clutch this year. He's evolved every part of his game each year, I'm sure that will continue this year.
I know jump shots are inclusive of three pointers. But I'm comparing the whole package. And I'm comparing from beginning to end. LeBron James seems to be the best shooter on the planet in the 1st quarter, yet can't make a jump shot in the 4th quarter. I think we are saying the same things here.
So why are only jumpshots considered clutch? That's the whole premise of your argument. You are only counting jumpshots for some strange reason. And explain to me why a huge chokejob loser like LeChoke won the championship over superclutch superteams like the Spurs? How come the Heat blow out the Lakers near every night when they play in the regular season?
That's a good question. I'm only giving 1/3 of the perspective here. Clutch should be making field goals and free throws in the 4th quarter. We know LeBron can't make free throws. Now I'm dissecting his field goals. Usually chokers are the ones who miss jump shots, since field goals in the paint are usually high percentage shots. E.g. DeAndre Jordan could be considered clutch based on that metric.
In a broader sense, clutch is entirely irrelevant when you are performing well in the first three quarters. Good teams win the game in the first three quarters. But to match your argument. DeAndre Jordan wouldn't be considered clutch because he's not a go to guy. If LeBron is scoring in the clutch with layups, its a result of blowing past his man and working for that layup. More than likely DJ is scoring off a Chris Paul drive or an alleyoop. In no universe will the Clippers ever toss the ball to DJ in the post and expect him to beat his man one on one. For LeBron however, the Miami Heat will have him handling the ball the entire or nearly the entire time. DJ doesn't play ISO. LeBron does. There's a difference. Like I said before though. Scoreboard. Its (obviously) not about efficiency in the fourth, its simply hitting the big shots when they come up. I believe Carmelo has one of the highest efficiency ratings in the fourth (if I remember correctly) yet has 0 rings. LeBron and Kobe rank lower yet have more rings.
Clutch is a subjective term. But we can all agree that if Chris Bosh doesn't rebound LeBron's brick of a 3 pointer, people would label him not clutch. Does Ray Allen's 3 pointer really change LeBron's legacy as being clutch? Statistics prove otherwise.
DeAndre Jordan was a bad example. Why don't we use Shaq as an example... He's one of the most dominant players to ever play. Is he considered one of the clutchest performers of all time?
Choking vs. MVPs are two separate issues. You can win multiple MVPs and still choke. You can choke in the 4th quarter and still win the NBA finals. The other teammates have to step it up.
I don't think there's been an overwhelming flurry of people at all that have labeled LeBron James as a clutch player. He's definitely not a choker. The inability to shoot doesn't make you a choker. The inability to perform does. If LeBron is not shooting well but making key plays and getting stops on the other end then does it really matter? If LeBron is as bad of a shooter as you say he is, then why is it such a bad thing if he draws defenders and passes the ball? Its funny how for 3 minutes of an NBA game it becomes a weak move to play team basketball and you are looked down for it. P.S. You realize the only reason people aren't taking you seriously is because you straight up just disrespect a man who's won two back to back titles before presenting your argument? You come off as a biased LeBron hater.
Well I am still dumbfounded how Ray Allen's play saved his career. We all know his legacy would have been tainted forever. Now it's a new season, time to start all over again.
That's a great point. Lebron probably has more playoff game winning layups than Kobe and Jordan combined lol not because he can't hit clutch jump shots but because Kobe and Jordan couldn't even get layups in game winning situations. Lebron is just the best
