I think between Ariza and Beverly they shot 1 for 12 from the 3pt line with Ariza the PF going 0 for 8. Agree with the thread the rotations are all off at the moment with no continuity from Bickerstaff. I think he has a love affair with Brewer if you ask me LOL. The teams weakness at the beginning of the season was having a thin frontline but now its their strength and Bickerstaff needs to be consistent with it. I still want to see DMO in the starting lineup and Jones coming off the bench with consistent minutes.
His last play was predictable as hell. Everyone knew James would get the ball and when Orlando stopped the 1st option there wasn't a backup plan in place. Thornton came over in reaction and didn't get a good look. Then JB wants to stand at midcourt and mad dog the referees? GTFOH!! LOL
You mean you want a default rotation like McHale was doing? Kept on playing Brewer eventhough he stunk horribly in that 3 game stretch earlier in the season.
This thread was in response to what I've seen over the past few weeks, not just last night's game. We go small at random stretches in every game. Sure it works well for a few minutes, but we are not sustaining a good level of play for more than a quarter at a time, if that. Yes, I do want a default rotation. Obviously it the situation calls for it, then you can throw some situational lineups out there (going small, defense, etc.) but at least through the first half there should be a consistent rotation from game to game. And JB is still playing Brewer and he is still stinking horribly.
The rotations can only be consistent with consistent play. I doubt any coach wouldn't go a little crazy with lineups & rotations having to coach a team as bipolar as the 2015/16 Rockets. There are alot of things to blame the Rockets season on, but JB Bickerstaff isn't one of them. He's a rookie coach whose barely older than I am trying everything he can to salvage the season.
Gotcha. I meant to mainly say that going small isn't really random. It appears more a plan for desperate comebacks, only, or foul trouble issues. Lot's of coaches do this to bring in more shooters for comebacks. Doesn't always work. I don't see JBB trying to make small ball an actual plan for each game. But he's building experience with it, when it's needed. Nothing wrong with how he's using it (or McHale prior), imo.
As already stated.....rookie coach winging it with a contending team....oops let me retract that "thinks it's a contending team".
It's just one of those losses that come in every season. We didn't play great but our talent showed and that's why we had a lead with 26 seconds left in the game. Obviously bev and Ariza arnt great shooters but there also not this bad all the time. 6/23 is just awful especally when u factor in Ariza was 0/8 on 3s. If Ariza even shoots 2/8 the rocksts win by 3 and that's still not a very good shooting. Not to mention bev making more than 2 shots. The team is going to have ups and downs throughout a long season and defensive lapses are going to happen on the road. Orlando is a well coached young team that has bought into what coach skiles is preaching. I think it was a good loss because we didnt give up and should have us fully focused to win the next two games against the Spurs and the Pelicans. The good news is JH is starting to pick his shooting back up and he's playing much better defense. DH is playing harder, the role players are performing. Rockets are fine imo it's just that we dug ourself in such a big hole to start the season every loss seems like the end of the world. I fully expect us to win Tom and Saturday. I also expect us to win every game after that besides one of the GSW or Spurs. We're catching fire and playing .700 basketball it's time to show the fans and the outsiders that the rockets are back to being a dark horse contender. We can hang with the great teams and this 5 game stretch will show the outsiders that the rockets are foreal.
When teams go small, why don't we go BIG and crush them on the block? We have one of the best post players in the league in DMo yet rarely use him down there. DD
I'm too lazy right now to look it up, but I'm pretty sure this was addressed recently in a Feigen article. JB isn't doing this because he doesn't know how to work rotations, come on, now.
I know, right. The Rockets are great at crushing opponents, but our stupid coaches are holding us back.
Because D-Mo can't defend small ball PF's.(back injury doesn't help either) And if you put D-Mo at center we will get crushed in rebounds.
