If I could wipe one contract off our cap, it would be MoT not Cato, and you know it. Yao Ming will be able to play 35 minutes per game. His stamina is not good, and a good backup is ABSOLUTELY necessary. Find me a backup as good as Cato on the current FA market. However, if we removed MoT, then there's TyHill, Oak, Rodman, and Shawn Kemp who could all effectively play whatever minutes Eddie Griffin leaves behind. Aside from that, Mo gets payed more, and gets paid longer. However, I would trade Cato for caproom IF we couldn't arrange a MoT for Mills or Moochie+ for Mills deal. We need some help at the 3 (very little help) and we can also stand to improve our cap situation to add a few more pieces like A Griffin and Pike. We both know that Yao wasn't able to withstand an 82 game season. Well, how about 82 games, with increased minutes (Cato departure) and a less effective backup, followed by even more minutes and at least 4 of the most intense games of his career. If Cato were backing up Shaq or Duncan, fine. However, Yao isn't ready to play big minutes, and it's very important to have someone of Cato's calibre or close to it.
The thing is everyone overrates cato... I mean who in their right mind would want a big contract on their cap... Cato is just to much of a mest up contract and only and idiot would take him in... Who ever said Cato has traid bait... well just think of this.. .his trade bait declines when there is stupid contracts...
Here, you are talking about a 8M center for a backup role. It is just too costing. If you get him traded, you should get a backup center plus a good backup point guard, which is realy needed for this team. The problem is that not so many teams want to him with this amount of money, so the Rockets have to keep him.
You could of not put it any better... Thats is so true... No one is going to take Cato's ugly contract... I dont think teams are that desperate...
