This makes me think of the reaction from MAC fans from a hoax that a guy gutted a G5 into a PC. I never knew MAC supporters could be so violent.

"Some people took it really, really hard," he continued. "I guess it shows Mac users relate to their machines differently.... We've gutted Dells and we never got a 'My God you desecrated a Dell!' reaction."

"Mac users are nuttier than a fruitcake," Andy said. "People have an unnatural emotional attachment to object(s) like computers. For some, their reaction was akin to me butchering their parents or a beloved pet."

I think MSN Messenger is much better than AIM. Problem is nobody has it. You can't beat the new Videoconference feature. PERFECT quality sound and picture; no lag or delay.

And if there's someone you don't want to talk to, how 'bout you simply ignore them.:)

    How old are you ;)

Yes, I do remember those telnet based chat server, I actually helped a friend setup one of those on his linux server. The script is really simple, but you have to manually clean up the chat file onec a day so it won't take up too much space.

    1. Invisible Messages....

I use DeadAIM, an addon for AIM which has some cool features like placing all IMs in one window, window transparency effects, logs all convos, clone AIM, and more...

DT, It also has a feature where you can put up your away message, but still talk to certain people, however it does get kind of annoying because whenever the person you're talking to messages you, your away message appears in the convo, but i got used to it...

    2. Offline Messages

Go into your AIM options and click on mobile IM...you can set your phone to receive messages as text messages whenever you log off so you will always get your messages.

If you and whoever you are chatting with are using AIM via Trillian, it allows you to use encryption, so no one can snoop on your conversation. That's reason enough for me. If you AREN'T using encryption and your connection is an office LAN or cable modem, it doesn't take much to intercept your conversations.

AIM sucks but everyone i know has it.

I agree with you DT, I have had yahoo messanger for 3 years and it's 10 times better than Gay-OL.

I had MSN messanger for a while and it was barely better than AIM.

I use Dead AIM, mainly because of my parents, who have forgotten how to use a phone ever since my mom learned how to use a computer - they don't use Yahoo... I have Yahoo! and I like it, it's just that hardly anyone I know uses it. And I have tried Trillian, and it just never took with me.... I know several people who swear by it, but it's not my cup of tea.

Agreed, My favourite used to be MSN for about 3 years now. I liked Yahoo for a few months in between. I had a protest going against AOL, Especially becuase I thought they ass raped people, in the netzero times. But nowadays if all you want to do is send a text message and have an away status with a large number of people... Aim is the way to go.

But Most of my friends overseas use Yahoo, and MSN. and I cant give them one reason to switch over....

    AOL SUCKS
