Who cares about Chuck's offense? his defense is good enough to make people ignore his offense.

If Chuck Hayes was 4" taller, he'd be Superman.

Thanks for that video and great thread. Doesn't everybody else get pissed off by watching that video though ?? The guy was praised for his allround game, he had a nice hook shot and even dunked. I do notice he never takes a single jumpshot in that video but with the Rockets he's even a liability from within a few inches from the basket.

When he throws it up there like a grenade it almost seems he's one of those kids in gym who has no control over his limbs when he plays. Cannot catch a ball, cannot shoot, cannot throw, just nothing there. That's what a Hayes' shot looks like. The FT shooting is just embarrasing and there's no excuse for shooting differently in practice than in a game. I think Hayes would be everybody's favorite player if he would just have a nice offensive game. For example, when he comes off the pick and roll being able to dunk it or make nice layup.

One coach said he's one of the best athletes he's over coached. I don't know about that because I've never seen Chuck jump, let alone do an up-and-under move or anything like that. The guy is a straight up goof and he should be happy JVG liked defense so much. It's mindblowing how a guy can GET WORSE throughout his career rather than get better and not use his talent.

It's a shame because I think Hayes could be getting 10-20 minutes if we would just at least develop a freaking jumpshot, make a simple layup or dunk. Another thing I noticed in the video is Hayes running on the break, so why not do that during games now ? Has he lost that too ?

Hayes is the reason where's still in this and can even win this series but please Chuck, pray to God that you find your talent again.

You do understand that there's a difference between college basketball and the NBA, right? You act like Chuck Hayes was a lottery pick or something, and he just didn't live up to his potential. The guy went undrafted. No one expected him to be a solid NBA player for a good team. In the words of Phil Jackson, give Chuck some *****ing credit. I mean, for real.

I've said it for 3 years. If the man could hit a 14 foot jumper, he would be an All Star.

    Are you kidding me?

Chuck has had to fight for every single thing that he's gotten in the NBA.

    I just... I can't.. no I won't argue with you.

There is a reason why despite the fact that offensively he is limited that he gets time on the court.

If he was a "straight up goof" then, like Joey Dorsey, Brian freaking Cook would be playing before him.

    Give me a *@#*ing break.

I thought Chuck has been training with those brooms for years and should be making layups lwith ease.

Again, people need to understand that the NBA is the best of the best. Being a decent offensive player in college doesn't mean you can translate that to the NBA. Chuck is not this league because of his ability to put the ball in the basket. In that aspect, he's barely D-league material. And there's no shame in that -- only a very small percentage of people on this planet are good enough to be an NBA-level offensive talent. Chuck earns his keep because of his toughness, his defense, his rebounding, and his high basketball IQ.

Chuck HAS a jumper and a 3 point shot, It's just really bad compared to everyone else on our team.

There's no point in Chuck shooting jumpshots when we have 4 other guys on the court who are much more skilled at it.

He's probably on par with an 8th grader in terms of shooting.

Chuck can hit the layups when ingnored and has a little 5ft hook shot that goes in. Chuck is all about D and his passing is very underated.

He went undrafted and was picked up for his defense so yes he should be lucky. Of course he's had to work hard, maybe harder than most but still if JVG hadn't picked him up who knows who would ? Most like a player with both offense and defense, that's all I'm saying.

I know the reason why he's on the court, so there's nothing to argue about. He's a goof in the sense of how he shoots within a few feet, how he shoots layups etc. It just looks unnatural so please do not quote me and then take it out of context.

    You are so stupid.

That's like asking "why doesn't Yao sling block shots"

Chuck does what he does best!

Get rebounds, steals, blocks, post defense.

    He does a lot.

Why is it that even after great victories and stellar performances some people always have something to complain about with this team?

Hayes isn't some kid off the street, everyone should know his game by now. They say he is fine in practice but during games, with people actually coming at him, he just can't seem to make shots.

I think its hilarious when guys like KG, Oden, Gasol keep trying to back him down but he never budges an inch. I remember that one play against Boston where KG tried 3 times in a row and got denied 3 times.
