I think if Parsons has a wreck in Dallas, Dirk would pass him in his Ferrari and splash mud on him instead of giving him the keys! Even though it means getting his car dirty....

Well Parsons is the Mavs' franchise player, so not a Rockets problems.

If Cuban would have told Dirk that he was taking his money to get Parsons, Dirk would have never signed that deal.

    What is QFTOS? Thanks.

On Parsons - I get why the Mavs paid for him. I don't get why people act confused. Dirk has like 2-3 solid years left and he wants to retire a Mav, but his worst nightmare was missing the playoffs completely a couple of seasons ago, and he told Mark Cuban he never wanted that again. The Mavs are playing to be 'pretty good', not contenders. They tried and failed at getting any real superstars the last few seasons. Parsons was one of the good players that was out there, and the only way to get him was to overpay.

I believe it's a Clutchfans-ism for "quotes from the other side".

But I thought they were the Run DMC brehs? Dirk loves Parsons.

But to be serious: Read an interview on a German sports site where Dirk stated him and Parsons have been in contact the whole last season, so I guess this was coming and they genuinely hoped to play together.

except its much more fun to rag on a guy that plays for the mavs, than a guy that plays on the team you love

I don't think Parsons is playing that poorly for the Mavs. I watch the game last night - he just missed shots.

Did they overpay for Parsons? Obviously yes. But Parsons will also get better. He's still learning and growing. And I think he needs to get stronger.

Once Parsons fills out more he will be able to overpower defenders more and be more of a threat from both the exterior and the post. He'll be able to create his shot not by blowing past people which honestly he was never that great out, but by using his strength to create space.

The reason Parsons has seemingly plateaued is because he is a bit weak physically.

Cuban admitted as much about overpaying for Parsons. But, he also said he was trying to build a younger team. I think that is probably why he was more interested in Parsons than Ariza at this point. He's building a team for the future knowing Dirk may not be around past a few more seasons. He also said something about a new TV deal he was inking that would make the Parsons signing look better. They were just talking about this on D/FW sports radio the other day.

And that is why he only gave him a 2/3 year contract. If he was building for the future, he would have locked him up.

I mean I hate on Parsons with the best of them.

Just hadn't really looked at his numbers, he's doing better than I had thought.

What do you mean "once he fills out"? Parsons is not some 22 year old third year player in the NBA. The guy is 26 years old. He HAS filled out and is in his physical prime right now. He is who he is.

He left Houston so easily, but his shot is still in Houston. Hope he can find it soon, because those 1-9 shooting starts he's put up isn't going to cut it.

I've got someone trying to tell me Parsons can reach the level of Josh Howard at his peak. Wasn't Josh Howard a really good defensive player? I know he averaged 19 PPG at peak, but I forgot how he was defensively- way better than Parsons, right?
