It was something like: Sager: That was a crazy shot did you think it would go in? Battier: If you asked me before I took it, I'd have said no but sometimes you just get one of those shots. Tmac: Yeah I didnt want him to take it cause he was like three feet off the line, but he made it and that was the best shot since they collapsed on me so. You usually want a better shot in that situation but he made it.
I listened the night before the SA game and he repeated like one hundred times that he is T-mac's biggest supporter, he just gets on him because he has all the talent and ability to control the Rockets' destiny. And he did call the Rockets beating SA, his guess was by seven and no one in studio would agree, save Nick van Exel. We won by eight, so you gotta give him his props. I don't think he's a hater.
who gives a damn what that molester thinks. im glad his ass dont commentate anymore. he sucked.annoying b*stard.
Well, Yao himself got 8 offensive boards, most of which were off missed shots from teammates. So, I'm not sure if the offensive rebounding came about because Yao was getting more touches. San Antonio has struggled with their rebounding to start the season, and Bonzi has rebounded well against them in the past.
Look, Calvin was a great color commentator on TV besides Bill Worrell (who did a good job keeping him under control, for the most part). But one thing Calvin will ALWAYS put first before anything or anyone else is himself. He has absolutely no problem about pimping himself for any number of jobs any opportunity he gets, and he will also hammer down his 'nemesis' from the past whenever he gets a chance to do so. He hated JVG and he only seems to have loyalty to the guys that were 'around' when he last had a job. And if it wasn't for him holding out a chance in hell that Le$ might one day get over their differences and hire him back he would probably murder Le$ on radio as well. Calvin is all about Calvin...that's just the guy in a nutshell. He's a showman and he loves attention.
So Battier admitted it was a tough shot that he wasn't confident would go in. And T-Mac is a bad teammate for basically repeating the same thing (it wasn't a great shot in that situation, but fortunately it goes in)? Ok ...
Yao got 8, but we got a bunch more. And Tmac shooting 7 seconds into the shot clock doesn't put us into postion to get those rebounds. So much like Mac said: 'It's on him.'
Battier said what he was supposed too. He is not arrogant. What Tmac said is not what he was supposed to. He basically said Shane shouldn't shot that shot, even though it was he who passed him the ball. Had he himself hit that shot, he would have said he "imposed his will on the game." And I refuse to believe anyone with even the slightest theory of mind can't see the jealousy in Tmac's words and expression.
Now that sounds more reasonable. I was sure I saw the comments somewhere and that it wasn't like everyone else interpreted it too be
Show me where that's written. You hear teammates teasing each other about attempting bad shots but making them all the time. Look, you obviously have some pre-existing views about T-Mac character if you're going to assume he said what he said out of jealousy. It could just as easily have been an innocent, teasing comment, particularly when he's just repeating what Battier already said. When teammates are close, they don't need to be politically correct and give stock answers about each other's performance. It's not like this is the first time Tracy has given up the ball to a wide open team mate in crunch time. He does so regularly and willingly. So this notion that he's "jealous" a teammate would hit the shot is completely far-fetched to me. But go ahead and assume the worst in people, if you prefer.
you're comparing one game where tmac may have been selfish. ONE FREAKIN' game. and tmac still racked up 8 assists in that game. and that comment about battier, he said that w/ a smile (prollie teasing battier). battier laughed too.
yao didn't take a ton of shots? we basically ran EVERY play through him. tmac got 3 plays ran for him in the entire 2nd half. and why do u only bring up ONE FREAKIN' GAME? is tmac like that all the time? he proved last yr how unselfish he is and prollie the most unselfish scoring superstar in the L. even when he was hot v. utah, he only took 27 shots. and we went to yao a lot in the 2nd half and he still played WITHIN the offense WHEN HE'S HOT. you're making it seem like tmac is always a selfish player. one game. cmon now. you're sounding like a tmac critic.
and what u forget from that exchange, TMAC AND BATTIER BOTH CHUCKLED when tmac said that was a lucky shot. what does that say? it's a tease. ppl are picking tmac for the smallest things it's like they have no life or just like criticizing the guy.
when did he say shane shouldn't shoot that shot? stop putting words in tmac's mouth. what tmac said was that was a bad shot to take but he had to take it. and he said he saw shane open and passed. and then both him and shane chuckled when he said it was a lucky shot. if u SAW THE INTERVIEW WITH YOUR EYES, and not just read (which puts things out of context), then u know they were playin.
If you shoot earlier in the shot clock, the opposing defense is less likely to be set. That could result in offensive rebounding opportunities as well. I'm not convinced that there's any connection between offensive rebounding and whether the offense runs through Yao or T-Mac. I could just as easily argue that when T-Mac has the ball more on the perimeter, that draws defenders away from the basket and it frees up teammates, in particular Yao, for more offensive rebounding opportunities.
ppl might not credit tmac, but he got yao 3 point blank dunks in the spurs game where he drew 2 defenders WAY OUT at the 3pt line and yao was wide open and could just dunk. but o well, when you're tmac, it's easy to criticize ya when u haven't won. u shoot 31 times, ur selfish. u shoot 14 times, well u didn't do enough. u score 47 pts, well ur lucky ur hot. and well, when u have other superstar perimeter players like AI and carmelo and lebron doing the same things, they get praised. tmac has to live thru that and hopefully he wins this yr.
My man, clearly NBA has not spend enough on to allow its fans to interpret comments in newspapers properly. What can you do?
Wait a minute- some of you on here actually think what he said was out of jealousy? Are you kidding me? My 12 year-old son saw that they were clearly joking- and T-Mac wasn't criticizing him at all. That's pretty sad when adults can misinterpret what was blatantly obvious.
if you can call tmac a ballhog or a selfish player, you obviously haven't watched basketball. 99% of the time tmac plays the game the right way. that's why JVG NEVER criticized him. players have bad shooting nights. u don't care for that b/c that happens. but make the right plays and that's what tmac does 99% of the time.
