Why do you rarely see mixed couples where the guy is of Asian descent?

Maybe it has to do with exclusive history of the whole country club culture, with the only blacks being seen on the golf course in the good ole days were the caddies.

I think it has more to do with a cultural thing. African-Americans are a vocal minority, Asians are not. African-Americans have claimed Tiger Woods as their own because he is a (part) Black man in a White man's sport. (BTW don't bother arguing that golf was not a White man's sport, until just over 30 years ago, non-causcasians weren't even allowed to play in a PGA tour event.)

I agree with that also Mulder, but what I was really trying to say is that it makes for a better story, to say Woods is Black.

So you're saying the squeeky wheel gets the grease. Probably true. I'll bet if you polled the US, 90% of the people would have no idea that Tiger is half asian.

And I would bet you have some serious issues with Blacks that you need to address with someone, maybe a counselor. All you have to do is look at Tiger and you can tell he's part Asian. Seriously, 90%, you act like his Asian heritage is never mentioned. That's ridiculous.

I have absolutely no issue with blacks, but I appreciate your hatred. Seriously, you need to simmer down, son.

I can confidently say that over 90% of the media references to Tiger that have to do with his heritage bring up his black roots, not his asian. This thread has gone down the path of how asians are underrespresent in the media. My point backs up this fact. You have once again taken it to a personal level by suggesting I seek the help of a counselor. What an insecure person you are.

No, you once again have gone down the media is biased towards blacks card, and stated a point that is utterly absurd. 90% of the media references to Tiger is that he is Black is a fact? Another absurd point to back your stupid claims. You have issues son.

Tell me how this thread has gotten to the point of the media bias towards blacks. The only thing I've seen to lead the thread to this point is your paranoia

Wow. You're a treat (thx Macbeth). YOU are the one who contrived my words to state that the media is biased towards blacks. My point was that it is biased AGAINST asians, because they do not receive much press. It just so happens Tiger's other makeup is black. If you read the entire thread, you will see references to how asians are not fairly represented in the media. I discussed how Tiger's asian roots are almost never talked about, yet his black roots are. I don't give a rat's hiney about blacks' representation in the media. I was pointing out that Tiger's asian roots are underreported.

Once again, you need to put away your jump to conclusions mat and simmer down.

It corroborates my point that the media is biased against asians.

Quit trying to put words in my mouth, champ.

Maybe the media is bias towards Asians simply because of what Mulder stated, that African-Americans are a vocal and probably the only nationally vocal skin-color minority. Yes, I know Hispanics, Latinos, Asians and all other minorities have their leaders and groups but these leaders and groups do not take action the same way as African-American leaders do like Jesse Jackson, AL Sharpton, etc. Here is a prime example:

Remember when Shaq made fun of Yao by saying something that was supposed to be Chinese? I believe he said something like "You can tell Yao to ching chang chong." or something like that, you get the point. Well, how many Asain groups cried foul, or planned boycotts, or what not? As far as I know only an Asian magazine complained and there really was no real outcry.

Then take the John Rocker incident that happened while he was with Atlanta. People complained, boycotted Braves games, they even asked for him to be traded or released, and the story soon made national headlines. The majority of these people were African-Americans.

I'm just saying that may be the reason and not that it is.

pgabriel, instead of dragging this thread down with personal insults, I would really be interested in you TRYING to understand why black girls, as you say, seem to date least outside of their own race...it seems like it is a matter of choice? But could that not mean they have a racial bias against other races, and it is stronger against certain races, like Asians? I am not saying this is true, but I would be interested in talking about the assumption. Thanks.

I am hardly qualified to educate anyone on the subject, but I will say that I think black women feel like they are betraying black men by dating outside their race. Because of the history of blacks in this country, especially the negative stereotypes of black men, black women are very protective of black men. The article on Kobe's upbringing in the NBA dish forum addresses this point. It has nothing to do with being biased against anyone.

Thanks...that is along the lines of something someone has told me once...still find it a bit confusing, though.

Back to the asian topic...I have noticed a trend in night clubs that once a large asian group starts to congregate in a popular club for a awhile, other groups of people stop going to that club. Usually, after other groups stop going, the club dies out and the large asian group move to the next popular trendy club, repeating the cycle. I talked about this to my coworkers and friends and they call this "the asian invasion". We all kinda agreed that this epidemic stifles clubs and that the asian group usually sits among themselves not doing anything.

Oh, call me guilty on the media whitewashing my perception of what ladies I like. I don't find asian, black, or overly ethnic-looking women generally attractive.

I usually give people the benefit of the doubt but... Wow... that's just... really... special of you to drop some of your infinite wisdom regarding race relations and the club scene in only your second post. I take it that you work at a think tank or Ivy League University. Do me a favor, never say anything that ignorant to a person that is of the race in which you are speaking. I don't want to hear about another death on the six o clock news.

Yes this phenomenon has been occurring for a while in Houston. It can totally kill a club, for sure. I've heard people joke around at cool places when they see a couple of gangster-looking asian guys there that they are the "scout team" about to give the order for their army to converge and swarm...

Say the same thing about Black people and you'd be shouted down as a racist. Say it about Asians and it's supposed to be funny. One thing it is for sure is ignorant.

Pal, you are out of line here. This is a very real phenomenon. I did not personally declare that I don't like being around asians. You must have ASSUMED that from your ill-conceived reasoning. In fact quite the opposite is true. And I'm not trying to be funny at all. When this group shows up at a club, the club's days are numbered by how long the group wants to hang around. That is a FACT I have seen over and over. It is truly sad that some small minded people like yourself are SOOOO afraid to even talk about race. We've taken political correctness way too far. I merely stated what I've seen. I didn't even give my opinion on anything. You are the ignorant person here, because you don't understand what I've seen with my very own eyes.
