Why do you rarely see mixed couples where the guy is of Asian descent?

I think you guys hit it on the nail. Asian women are viewed as exotic and coveted by more than just Asian men. My favorite pornstar is half Asian half White ;) :D

That is seriously ****ed up. Supposedly my grandfather was very pissed about my Dad (who is white) marrying a Japanese girl, but after he went to the wedding, met my maternal grandparents, and got to spend some time with my mother, he totally changed his attitude. And he was raised in the Jim Crowe, racist South of the early 1900's. It's funny, how both of my grandfathers became the best of friends until my paternal grandfather died of cancer. If he could change, anyone can change.

I just wanted to say that this was a brilliant rationale. It makes a lot of sense!

As a white guy that hangs out almost exclusively with asians, is married to an Asian woman, has SEVERAL male asian friends that have dated and or married women of other cultures... you know what screw it. This ain't worth my time explaining this to people who are never gonna get it anyway. All the stupid stereotypes about asians might have been true 40, 30, even 20 years ago but they are not true here and now any longer. Next time you meet a person that is married to an Asian woman ask him if she is subserviant. The dude will have to pick his ass up after laughing it off.

It is called "Anna and the King." I believe that the actor was Chow Yun-Fat.

Out of all the men of asian descent that I've noticed, I find that filipino guys have more non-asian wives/girlfriends than any of the others. Their families are probably either more accepting or care less.

My experience, is that Black women are probably as a group the least likely out of anyone to date outside of their race. I have no idea why.

I also get the perception that guys find Black women a little intimidating to other guys.

Mulder's right, Asian women in America are far from subserviant from my experience. I've never dated an Asian woman but just from my experiences with Asian co-workers and listening to them talk about their relationships.

I think this hits the nail in the head.

The assessment is also true for other Asian besides Japanese, although other Asian men don't expect as much as Japanese men while other Asian women are a little more independent.

As for Asian women who were born or raised in the US, they are more independent.

What I notice is that women that grow up in other areas
i.e. Latin America, Asia tend to be more respectful and more willing to please their mate, versus those in the US.

Much of that is probably based on the economics of our 1st world society and the fact that both people work, therefore the woman has earning power and benefits the household financially.

But what I've also noticed is first-generation immigrants daughters actually end up taking the opposite role; they become very demanding and bratty.

I was born in NYC, but I actually prefer to date foreign girls. They honestly know how to carry themselves better and are more respectful. Respect is a two-way street and I treat a girl better than she has ever been treated, but I do have lofty expectations.

I've dated well brought up girls from South America, and Mexico and have had amazing experiences with them. They are very high maintenance, but the benefits are incredible.

That (the family not caring as much part) and the fact that Filipino women are way more dominant than Filipino men. Sissy men run away. :)

    Filipino women are terrors.

I don't think the average American can tell the difference between an Asian American and an Asian from Asia.

Here's an article on the underrepresentation of Asian Americans in the media.

Actually, he does A LOT of different looks. And I think he is simply very attractive (as does my friend Alex). I've never thought of him as being 'white' looking or anything like that. In fact, I find him to be very different looking than the vast majority of american men. *shrugs* I just like the femmy/goth look, I guess.

I wonder why Tiger Woods doesn't get more attention for the fact that he is half-asian. Pretty much all you ever hear about him is that he's "the first African American golfer" to do this or that. You never hear that he's the first "Asian American golfer" to do something. Talk about a media bias...

It's not so much that they 'run away' but rather they 'forfeit their manhood'. A vicious cycle on par with child abuse. Neither scenario teaches sons how to be responsible, confident men.
