Let's see....I can get a couple of car loads of eight people together and ready to go. Go out in bad weather. Drive 5-10 miles each way. Order food, wait 20 minutes or so. Order drinks and soft drinks. Pay my bill and include a tip. OR Call the restaurant and place an order for eight people. Sit around in my living room, have some drinks, talk, watch TV. 30-45 minutes later, my doorbell rings and there is a guy with my food. Tip the driver. And the restaurant only charges an additional $3-$7 for that? Sign me up.
You obviously don't have a rich enough set of life experiences to draw from to have an informed opinion on this. If you're an hourly worker who simply takes the standard deduction, then yeah, turbo tax is fine. For many of us who have complexities involved in our return, then you're very wrong.
Only if they're genuinely nice and not that overly flirty nice trying to get a better tip. I don't need a dick tease while I'm eating as well! Lol
yeah I'm not so sure. This is the same guy who couldn't be convinced that it's necessary to wash his hands after taking a piss.
The company pays them to bring me my food and keep my water glass full. I tip when they go above and beyond those duties and the amount is based on their attitude.
This begs the question.....how often do your servers have a bad attitude? This happens to me about 0.0001% of the time I eat out.
Good Question. What *is* good Service? 1. don't keep me waiting too long - I know they busy but 30 minutes between sitting down and the initial drinks orders is ridiculous 2. be pleasant - I don't need an ass kisser but don't look like you are pissed to be there 3. Check up on me. . . every 10~15 minutes is usually good . . .every 2 is annoying and every 20 . . well I generally not there longer than an hour and seeing you 3 times in an hour is not enough . . . Things that aren't their fault i don't penalize them unless they give me attitude i.e. the food sucks. . . the food is late Rocket River what else? What are you expectations?
(answering bobrek too) With 10+ years in the business and 30+ years eating in these establishments, I can comfortable say that my expectations of servers are pretty high. And because my expectations are high, my tipping is just as proportional. Above and beyond? If you are a regular of an establishment and you have a favorite server, you’ve answered your question. All I’m saying is it’s going to be different from place to place, management to management, etc. If you’ve ever worked the tables you’ll recognize above & beyond.
To me, the things you described are what I would consider 'expected' service (and, yes, I am a good tipper).
I was a pizza delivery driver several years ago and can say that most places the driver does not recieve that added delivery charge you see on your receipt. It goes to the store which then pays the driver a certain amount for gas. Plus I was only making $3.50 an hr at the mom & pop pizza place I worked. NOTE: Unlike for servers, I think percentage is an unfair rule for delivery. On small orders we want high percentage tip, but on big orders we don't expect 15-20 percent. From the perspective of almost every driver I've spoken to, myself included, we really just want like $4 or $5 from everyone. But to be fair, if I take an order under $20 and they give me $3 I can't complain. But the consensus is that $2 is almost never okay (fair or not), $3 is a good minimum, but if possible $4 or $5 is great. If you straight up mark a $0 with an x through it, THEY WILL REMEMBER YOU. I never spit on anyones food however I did shake up their 2 liters really well and for the really bad ones opened up their pizza box and turned my AC on high to cool it down. So I wouldn't stiff nor undertip a pizza guy if I was you. Especially if you plan on ordering from the same place again.
I'm usually a 20% tipper unless the service was just piss poor at which point I have no problem giving zero for someone who clearly put no effort in. For places that i'm a regular and know the people, I usually give more. Delivery, i'm the same but as bob mentioned, I do have a $5 minimum. Plus, I only get delivery from a couple of places so I want to be on their good side. Pick up order, I still tip but probably more like 10-15%. I don't tip because I feel i have to, I tip because, 1) If I come back I want to be in the good graces 2) I appreciate good service 3) it's a nice thing to do and a nice gesture to someone who earned it.
Urine itself (or healthy, normal urine) is fairly antiseptic. So the key behavior, if you or Rocketman95 want to avoid washing your hands, is to piss all over your hands. It's true that handling your junk and not washing your hands (with EITHER soap & water, or just urine, or some combination) is nasty. By the way, I usually hose down the toilet seat to prevent any infections for the next person who might want to sit on said seat. I'm community-minded like that.
<br> And this is why I never get delivery. Wtf. So on a 20 dollar order, I'm supposed to pay the crazy delivery fees and then 4 dollars on top of that? That's paying more than 40% extra just to have your food delivered. No thanks. I'll just go pick up my food.
