I don't hate the guy...I think he was a great player and I loved his passing ability and smoothness. That said, I don't think he's exactly a high character guy, mainly because of a) blocking the trade by blindsiding the team with his surgery announcement through SAS, and b) being a diva about not getting more minutes upon his return when he was clearly still hobbled (and of course took several weeks off almost immediately when NY gave him those minutes, validating Adelman's stance). The Toronto game doesn't help his case.
Good grief. Some just don't get it? Back-up? Tracy? A cold day in hell! He can fall out of bed and score 40, can't he. That's why every team in the league is clamoring for Tracy's winning personality. NY, Chicago, Clippers, Miami, Orlando, Toronto and Houston all seem to be beating down his door and throwing money at him aren't they? I guess you guys must know more than any GM in the league. If he does land on a team somewhere and puts up more than 15 points, you guys will be telling everyone how great he is. When in fact his team lost and he put up 22 shots. Next we'll hear how "if" he had a better supporting cast he'd win a championship, when he'd be hoping to smell the playoffs. The Tracy tune always sounds the same no matter what jersey he has on, If he gets one. See in fact, Stevie Franchise gets more respect around here than Tracy. The ROXS had enough respect for Stevie too bring him back for a second chance. I don't think the same can be said for Tracy. And in fact you even gave Stevie much respect in not referring to him by his name Francis, but by calling him the Franchise. And please don't try and tell me Tracy worked hard and didn't quit on his team. Every GM in the league knows better, you should too.
I wasn't. I was referring to a category of jokes that poke fun of Tracy McGrady's constant injury history, inability to censor himself, and his tendency for complaining/drama.
he's reading VEGAS magazine BTW. It's not that I hate him as a person but I hate his ego. His attitude towards basketball. It's like he thinks the game is blessed by him being on the court and to me that's why I think the basketball Gods have cursed him.
Oh no you don't start a thread like this. <a href="http://media.photobucket.com/image/tracy mcgrady mad gif/eXcella/Gifs/tmax.gif?o=1" target="_blank"><img src="http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j268/eXcella/Gifs/tmax.gif" border="0"></a>
I don't hate the guy. I wish him the best for him and his family. May God bless him. The only thing I no longer want is him in our team. If he could win a ring with a contender it wouldn't bother me a bit. I doubt it though, he messed himself up by doing surgery on his knee.
The guy was one of my favorite players. The guy was soo talented. His first season with the Rockets, man he was simply amazing. That year and his years before in Orlando, that's when people were talking about Kobe Vs T-Mac and who would win. I don't hate the guy. Hate is such a strong word. I don't hate a person for not helping our team succeed. (If you hate him for something like that, please go get a life) The things that irritated me about him was simply is WORK ETHIC. He had nowhere near enough. I admit the guy had some crappy injuries, but that's what the off-season is about. Work your butt off and get back into shape. If you getting paid big bucks, you owe it to your team and city. Also, his decision to have microfracture surgery without telling the team was very unclassy. And finally, that Toronto game.......I was shocked when I saw that. Hopefully he'll be man enough to take a small role coming off the bench somewhere and then work his way up to a bigger role on a team. He can be a great playmaker, play some point forward somewhere. That's the best thing I can see for him. Good luck Mr. 13 pts in 35 seconds!
Tracy has the superstar attitude, which was fine, when he had the superstar skills to back it up. Now that his skills have deteriorated, he's in the same boat as Iverson and Shaq. Fans and teams no longer want to put up with the problems he brings because they know he can't bring the basketball, that's when the haters turned on Tracy and blamed him for everything.
i despise him when he picked the Lakers to beat the Rockets while he was on the sidelines. We took them to game 7 and he picked the Lakers to win the Championship over his own team. He's a freaking loser. I used to like him and stick up for him (even though he shot so poorly during his time as a rocket), but now i realize he's selfish and immature. Not a team player.
I don't hate anyone (well, God forgive me, maybe a few people in my life), and I before he came to the Rockets, he was my favorite player in the NBA. During his tenure with the Rockets he had his moments of greatness, but through the years he alienated most of his fans including me. The label "diva" explains alot.
I was with Tracy up until his melo dramatic stages came into play. I can understand the injuries and set backs, but when he started arguing about playing time and dressing while still on the injured list? Really? That was a distraction for the team. Thats when I realized that this wasnt about the team anymore. He didnt care to distract the chemestry of what we had... This is where he lost me. I gave my Tracy McGrady Authentic jersey away to charity. NO B/S!!
