    1) I did not compare ...i gave U.A.E as an example of a country that has gone beyond just having an oil industry...why is that hard to understand.

    2) i don't know if you've ever lived there... i'm assuming you hav'nt from your posts....but i'm talking about places FAR from Mecca or Jeddah...

    2. i lived there 9 years, about... and go there every summer...

and yes, i think that its a good investment... because you might not realize that the reason that it seems that the roads are useless is coz there are no traffic jams on em...

If Islam was truly a religion of peace, then those who truly believe it would do everything in their power to stop those who would use terrorism - but they don't. It's all talk - mostly from imams in the west.

Frankly, we all know one thing, whereever there is Islam, there will be terrorism. Doesn't matter if the majority of Muslims are good or whatever, enough will be filled with hate to strap a bomb off and die for some cause. No Imam sitting in his mosque is going to stop that guy.

Where there is a Muslim community, and you will find some kind of globally reported terrorist act at some point: Britain, Spain, Israel, Indonesia, Russia, India.

The fact is, many Muslims sympathize and quietly cheer these acts, at worst, they blame it on some conspiracy theory thought up by the Mossad. Takes more then words to wash your hands clean of accountability.

If the region is so great and can build roads and schools, then why can't they help their neighbors build something better? Why can they build any other industry other then drilling for oil? Most muslims see Bin Laden more positively then Bush. I mean, that's just ridiculous.

This is post perhaps out of ignorance, or out of ignoring the facts. The facts are that the people who committed the london bombings had been informed on by other muslims. Other muslims were the ones who tried to turn these people in years before the london bombings happened. You must have missed the dozens of fatwahs against terrorism from Muslim religious leaders all over the globe.

It seems like you are allowing extensive media coverage of the view taint your opinion of an entire religion.

does this thread have anything to do with your random spewings about islam being about peace or not?
NO imam sitting in his mosque is dumb enough to get in the way of some maniac with a bomb on his chest... Thats as stupid as me saying, why didnt you stop the columbine kids?

again, a really stupid argument, as stupid as

"where there is a "insert community" community, there is some sort of murder, rape, or other crime reported at SOME point of its existence: ANY DAMN PLACE IN THE WORLD

SPeaking out of your ass again I see.
So now the argument goes from islams evil teachings to the lack of industrialization by arabs... so this is islams fault also?

Most Americans see Timothy Mcveigh more positively than their local muslim neighbor. I mean, thats just ridiculous

Stop wasting your and my time NewYorker... Please

If there are only two sides to this argument, then both sides are wrong.

I don't think that is true. I think most everyone that actually has a local Muslim neighbor and who knows who McVeigh is thinks more highly of their Muslim neighbor than of Tim McVeigh. It would probably be pretty hard to get polling data on this though.

Actually the zionists that founded Isreal were the original middle east terrorists. They committed horrendous acts in order to attempt to create the state of Isreal starting in the 1920's. I guess that terrorism does work to some regard in that wild region.

And the King David hotel bombing occurred in 1946, and the Jerusalem pogrom happened in 1920.

So, pumpkin, as you stated in your post, the "Zionists who founded Israel were the original Middle East Terrorists", yet Arabs were terrorizing Jews in the Middle East 26 years before the King David hotel bombing.

    Care to explain?

Surely there can't be any justifiable reasons to blow stuff up - not that you said justifiable. Any reason to blow something up, in my mind, would have to be justifiable by default...and I can't justifiably see any reason to blow something up...

    I'm with ya bigtexxx.......

Correct me if I'm wrong but I didn't exactly see many muslim groups rushing to help the poor people who got effected in the sunami last year...and the ironic thing is that over 85% of Indonesia is muslim.....go figure its the christians who came to the rescue.

Last time I checked the Red Cross was an aid organization and the symbol is associated with medical hospitals not christianity. How did we evolve to a bunch of PC pu$$ies? Lets not offend anybody....BS what ever happened to sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me? I'm not saying you should go taunt people but geez luiz there are quite a number of things I don't like but I don't go around blowing them up or shooting them.

    Tolerance goes both ways....lol
