Why do the Rockets think Bosh, not another FA, is the right target?

You don't get excited about your team until you're actually on it. You want him to be going, "Damn, won't that be wonderful being on the Rockets! I'll get to shower, ride the team bus, practice, and be in the huddle with Yao, Martin, and Brooks.. and I just CAN'T WAIT to go over to Ariza's crib and watch DVDs of Lost!"

I don't understand this neither. Everybody knows we need a backup center who can protect the board and a long guard who can defense. But you can't see Morey is doing anything about that. Eighter this is a trap or Morey is brainwashed by the who FA thing.

Huh? Why do we need that? We already have two, or one if they go to Toronto.

How many 6'8" no-stats all-star g/f do the Rockets need? A guy who can protect the board? :p

Battier and Ariza can guard. And they always guard the opponent's star player. There were 5 players on the court every night. Sometimes we were not beaten by the stars, we were beaten by role players. I can't remember how many times we have complained AB and KMart's defense on this board.

Right on,this is a major problem. The loss of Yao compounded our defensive woes.

A lot of time people are so obsessed by star performance. I like star performance too. But if you want to win a championship, you have to have a balanced basketball.

Morey has said that you need elite players to win a championship in this league. Bosh is the only elite player available to us this offseason. (The second best is Stoudemire.) And Bosh's skills fit our team the best.

But don't ever think that Morey is finished, even if we land Bosh.

Umm... exactly what do you expect the team to do about the defensive problems? So you want a long guard that can defend? Fine, let's get one... then he can play 10 minutes behind our starting SG and make a minimal impact on the game.

Let's completely disregard the fact that our tallest player on the court for most of the season was a 6'8-6'9 Luis Scola. Now I understand that Kevin Martin and AB have their defensive woes, but it makes it a lot easier on the other team when they know there is nobody to defend the paint.

We land Bosh, all of a sudden we go from nobody there to defend the paint, to two 6'10+ guys defending the paint. Now I understand that Bosh isn't exactly a low post defending specialist, but he's still got size, and it puts doubt in the other team's mind.

Now let's see... hmm... get a long guard that can defend but will only play about 10 minutes behind Kevin Martin, Trevor Ariza, and Shane Battier... or get a 6'10 star player that can give us tremendous offensive capabilities as well as good size on the defensive end.

Yeah, I'm going to have to go with the latter.

We do need a star, but Toronto and Bosh want a lot. Why should we give up too much for him? Expiring contracts plus picks and Ariza might not satisfy Jerry C. He probably wants Brooks,Hill or Budinger.

My gut feeling is DM won't give up too much for Bosh and Toronto. The Raptors and he will have to accept the best offer possible.

I really don't understand the whole bosh or bust thing either. I like him as a player and his skills, but for max money, you expect a transcending type of player. Bosh is just good, but we're paying for great. Gasol is getting his money because the owner wants to win at all cost, but les isn't like that. So unless you can get a franchise player, i wouldn't spend the franchise type money to get a good player. Now if we were talking carmello who is a dog and has lead his team to the playoffs and can take over a game late, thats different, but not bosh.

You presume that both Brooks and Martin will stay with Rockets after this off season. I presume one of them will leave. That's the difference here. I like both of them. They are both great offensively. But with Yao coming back, I assume we don't need two back court scorers. So I think Rockets should take one of them and put another in the market.

    1) Houston has no shot at any of the other top free agents (dirk, lebron, wade, bosh

    2) Bosh has an extremely high free throw rate in 4th quarter, an especially lucrative stat in Morey's calculations

    3) Bosh has demonstrated that he can be a complement to other elite players (Olympic team) and also shoulder the load as the main man when Yao is on the bench

    4) Bosh has superlative range for a big man and is effective driving to the hoop

simply Bosh's game scores high in Morey's number crunching and is a top 10 player in terms of delivering wins under the sabremetrics used by the Houston Rockets

That's true but impossible. Melo would be awesome if we only had to pay him $6 million a year. But at a max salary he's horribly overpaid.

Bosh, Raptors feuding? "ESPN was reporting Saturday night that growing animosity between Chris Bosh and the Toronto Raptors could wind up with Bosh leaving Toronto with nothing coming back in return and Bosh settling for less in contract years and dollars to leave. At season's end, both Bosh and Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo spoke about how the two sides would work together either to keep Bosh in Toronto or place him elsewhere where it would be most beneficial to both parties. Sources now are telling ESPN that the Raptors are no longer so enthused with helping Bosh obtain a max contract with a sign-and-trade."

I do not think Rocket put all his attention to BOsh? Why not James? It is known James now concerns Final ring most. With Rocket he can join hands with Yao ming and the chance to win is much larger. If so, James will give rocket his consideration.

Bosh is a smokescreen. The Rockets have to try to keep the fans interested and excited. The Rockets will be happy to stand pat but watch out before the next trade deadline!

I like the team the way it is. We don't need to give up a bunch of assets.

Keep the draft picks and build through the draft.
