Sometimes, people take longer than two weeks to read a book. Also, since libraries keep a finite number of the same book, and are accessible to a large number of people, there is a mathematical risk that the book might not be there when you want it. Furthermore, there is a possibilty that someone might move out of the same geographic area as the library, but might want to read a particular book in both the original and new place of residence.

I do try to find the book I want at the library first, but for instance, the book I want right now is 1000+ pages. I can renew it twice, so that's a maximum of six weeks with the book (usually less). I don't want to be rushed, so I will probably just end up buying it. I've got it on req. and I'm #1 in the queue, but it was supposed to have been returned Jan 16th, and it's still out.

Did you know that, on average, feces molecules from 83 people can be found on the surface and/or pages of the most popular library books?

Hopefully you buy books the day they come out then because there's a good chance Joe McJobless spent all day reading your book along with a bunch of magazines and a book about how to get rich and possibly a book about bedroom positions.

I dont get my books from the library because...

    1) I dont mind spending 10-20 bucks on something that I want.
    2) I can read it at my own pace.
    3) I can make notes if I want.
    4) I dont like the fact that hundreds of people have used that book...like when theyre taking a dump.
    5) I like clean, crisp pages.

The only thing I would ever consider getting used is a sports car that has less than 2000 miles on it.

    And probably a woman.

That reminds me time to donate some books, tax write off and you get to share them with the world.

I thought you made too much money to write off charitable donations. :)
