Harry Potter is getting up there bro. Maybe we should start believing in it. To get a head start you should go try to find the first Horcrux.

I don't believe that an arc filled with cute animals, or any other story can be scientifically backed. That is just taking it too far.

The creative days. The bible proving the earth is circular before many believed it was.

The Bible, at Job 26:7, speaks of God as “hanging the earth upon nothing.” Science says that the earth remains in its orbit in space primarily because of the interaction of gravity and centrifugal force. These forces, of course, are invisible. Therefore the earth, like other heavenly bodies, is suspended in space as if hanging on nothing. Speaking from God's viewpoint, the prophet Isaiah wrote under inspiration: “There is One who is dwelling above the circle of the earth, the dwellers in which are as grasshoppers.” (Isa 40:22) The Bible says: “He [God] has described a circle upon the face of the waters.” (Job 26:10) The waters are limited by his decree to their proper place. They do not come up and inundate the land; neither do they fly off into space. (Job 38:8-11) From the viewpoint of God, the earth’s face, or the surface of the waters, would, of course, have a circular form, just as the edge of the moon presents a circular appearance to us. Before land surfaces appeared, the surface of the entire globe was one circular (spherical) mass of surging waters.—Ge 1:2.

I was born and raised Muslim and had many Muslims from my mother to my imam tell me that the Quran is backed by science. Tell me why they are wrong and you are right?

Science and the Bible have no contradictions, when both are analyzed correctly. Just saying. Lots of really, really wrong information being spouted out from both sides. I'm grabbing the popcorn though, late night divine existence debate are the best.

Writing something in such vague terms and twisting the words to cater towards modern science does not equal fact. Notice how there has to be the word "spherical" in parentheses because the actual word used was "circular" which the Earth isn't. Someone can easily conclude that the Earth was circular by staring at the moon and saying "Hey the moon looks circular so I guess the Earth is circular also."

Too bad the Catholic Church never read the bible, poor Galileo.

    Galileo begs to differ.

It is quite clear that the above Biblical Verses suggest and claim that the Earth is flat, has Edges, has Four Corners, has Pillars, and has Foundations. No unbiased person would deny the straight forward quotes above.

They're metaphors bro. The versus that coincide with modern science are the ones you are "supposed" to read literally. Don't you read the footnotes in the Bible?

I'm pretty sure circular and spherical is the same thing.

its taking certain pieces of the text by cherry picking and saying it =____

Reminds of cloud gazing and seeing pandas where someone else may see a vagina.

It has to explicitly say something.

You don't have to prove there is no God. I'm pretty sure if it was provable either way we wouldn't be having this conversation.

One of my pet peeves is that louder atheists tend to think they're bringers of peace. Fear of institutionalized religion is something I have a deep appreciation for. However, but as long as people seek to stamp out the "opposing view"... guess what, we won't have much peace and civility.

I'm seriously tired of being talked down to by "superior intellectuals" who scoff at the idea of purpose in life. I'm fine keeping to myself and only talking to those who want to discuss it. Trust me, I'm equally tired of "christians". I just tend to think people should seek answers to questions on their own and interpret their life's events without having to deal with all of this societal pressure & bias. I know that's too idealistic. We're indoctrinated one way or the other from the time that we're young, and it typically either causes us to cling to what we know, or to rebel the other way as hard as we can.

How am I supposed debate with someone who doesn't even understand basic geometry? I hope you are trolling at this point.

    Circular - 2 dimensional object.
    spherical - 3 dimensional object.

I'm pretty sure that christians of the time didn't consider them as metaphors. The earth in the words of the bible is represented as a flat entity beneath heaven and above hell, the sun a distant lamp that rises just for the inhabitants of the earth to make them happy since it is the center of the universe.

No offense, but you're being the troll here. While yes they are different shapes, in this context it's the same thing. I mean, take one step forward and you can instantly tell its not circular...you're just being terribly anal.
