Thats not what I'm talking about. Atheists are generally far more reasonable and tolerant, you are misinterpreting what I am saying. There are also a good portion nowadays that are just as intolerant as religious fanatics-kind of like if someone believed in god, they would be in said person's face bashing him about believing in something they can't see. Reddit, and specifically r/atheism is full of obnoxious intolerant assholes I have seen harass people for no good reason. Like I said, I'm citing something specific, if you can't accept that someone else believe's in god and are willing to give them crap, that is just like giving someone crap and telling them they are going to hell if they don't believe in god.
You put reason and Bible in the same phrase, thats a big fat no. Now, give me a reason to believe in the Bible... See what I did there?
Yes, most likely, why? I wouldnt have put it better than those guys thats why I used it as a quote. Biased? Maybe, maybe not. whats your point? Thats correct, and this actually goes further in line to explain both broad and narrow sense. Great stuff. Thank you, come again.
Oh the Bible...it was a lovely book made by Jesu.........errrr I mean the Romans. You Christians should look up how the Bible was created by politics and not "God".
Then again, why would any one tolerate religious doctrine? You wouldnt tolerate if someone tells you the earth is flat and is only 6000 years old, you wouldnt tolerate the idea of Dinosaurs never existed and Australia/New Zealand dont exist. Why would I, I meant why the heck would I tolerate religious freaks selling unproven ideas as facts? Hell no.
WOW, i meant WOW!!! Ok, define christian value for me will ya? I'd love to see some quotes, for real.
Now I know why redredemption was against the idea of starting a religious related thread. He was right all alone, by reading that comment my IQ just dropped by a fairly big margin. My bad.
Explain the difference between the narrow atheism viz a viz agnosticism. I'll give it to you though, the best defense of any argument is refusing to take a position. Too bad it's just intellectually dishonest and adds no value to any discourse. I award you no points. May god have mercy on your soul.
My guess is that Akim is some 16 yr old kid seeking some validation into one of the greater unsolvable mysteries of life.
The Bible does not provide specific answers to this question. According to the Genesis account, animals were created during the fifth and sixth creative periods or ‘days.’ If the Hebrew expression translated “great sea monsters” [Hebrew, tan·ni·nim′] includes dinosaurs, which often inhabited swampy, watery areas, this would mean that dinosaurs were created on the fifth “day.” We do not know whether they continued to exist until man was created (toward the close of the sixth “day”). At the very latest it seems likely that they must have disappeared off the earth at the time of the flood of Noah’s day. Dinosaurs were reptiles, and some kinds of dinosaurs bear strong resemblance structurally and otherwise to lizards (sauros is, in fact, the Greek word for “lizard”; saura in Leviticus 11:29,). Not all types of dinosaurs were of such gigantic size. Hence, even if they had survived till the Flood, this would not have required taking pairs of the mammoth varieties into the ark. Other smaller members of the particular family or “kind” to which these belonged would have sufficed to fulfill the divine command.—Gen. 6:19, 20; 7:14. Some of the older translations of the Bible at times use the word “dragons” to translate the Hebrew tan·ni·nim′ (“sea monsters,”). (Ps. 74:13; 148:7; Isa. 27:1,) The term “dragon” (Greek, dra′kon) is found in the Christian Greek Scriptures. It has been suggested as possible that, rather than having a purely mythical source, this expression may originally have been applied to enormous creatures such as the dinosaurs, taking on mythical tones only after these mammoth creatures had long disappeared. Interestingly, many of the mythical depictions of the “dragon” strongly resemble certain types within the family of huge reptilian creatures that includes the dinosaur.
You respect other people's beliefs, yet you belittle the Bible by calling it a "fairytale" book? Your use of the word respect is interesting.
A truly benevolent god would reward those who do not fear a higher power and yet are morally outstanding humans. Why should a benevolent higher power punish me for not believing in something I cannot see, hear, smell or feel?
Oh I thought you were done? anyway, welcome back my friend. But you are wrong, again. It's only honest to admit that you don't know other than pretending to surrender to some bronze age myth. The position itself is the foundation of critical thinking, it drives people to actually TRY to discover the truth. No, your God cant hold my jock strap.
