Nah, I do respect whatever beliefs or lack of beliefs you have. I believe that there is an intelligent creator who created everything in existence and thus should be worshiped whole-heartily. Those who don't believe that then that's on them, I respect that.
Not to be snarky, but I wouldn't take a statement from Wikipedia as proof of anything. I am not convinced anyone other than atheists had a hand at crafting that definition. To your points, atheism is the denial of god, as was mentioned by prior poster. You can believe in a god and not in the Christian god, a theist. You can be skeptical about whether there is a god, agnostic. But to claim that there is no god is itself a faith-based claim that is untestable and empirically unprovable. You to me sound like you're agnostic.
Actually, its the opposite, a true person who abides the Bible's standards and principles have one of the worst moral there possibly is. Want some of those brilliant quotes? Let me know I wont disappoint you.
I thought it was what D&D is for. But I agree with you, seeing some of those posts has really put me off
You are being snarky, and honestly, a quite sad one. You again shifted the argument a bit by saying atheism is the denial of God, no its not, its the denial of religious claims. There's a difference between not believe in God and believe there is no God, you got them all mixed up. I do not believe in any deity but I do not claim that there is no God. See, it's really that simple, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to jump out of that logical fallacy.
Do you disagree that atheists probably drafted the definition of atheism on Wikipedia? And as a result, it is inevitably biased? Anyways, your favorite source says: "Atheism is, in a broad sense, the rejection of belief in the existence of deities.[1][2] In a narrower sense, atheism is specifically the position that there are no deities.[3][4][5] Most inclusively, atheism is simply the absence of belief that any deities exist.[4][5][6][7] Atheism is contrasted with theism,[8][9] which in its most general form is the belief that at least one deity exists.[9][10]" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atheism In any event, I am done with this conversation. Been fun.
I actually agree with what RedRedemption has said. Some of the worst sleaziest pieces of scum I have ever met claim they are the most righteous because they are religious. You shouldn't have to have religion to tell you to be a good person and human being.
The bible's standards aren't my concern, not even a little bit. This idea that time began with the bible is so ret... ah, caught myself. Lol
That being said I have met some really obnoxious atheists, its one of the reasons I hate reddit. I get how some people don't believe in god, but they are just as intolerant as the people they criticize with their in your face bs.
You know this is almost word for word reiteration of a lot of islamic extremists in the taliban or w.e.
I think you misunderstood what I meant. I mean living by the truth. The truth in the bible. I assume you don't believe in the bible, so trying to reason with you would be pointless.
I see this tactic whereby there are racial or religious fanatics and people who dismiss them as fanatics are called intolerant. It's like if I don't tolerate your brand of crazy then I'm intolerant. For example, there's this guy here that talks about all these bible prophecies that have come true. That is just crackpot nutball crazy and frankly I don't find pointing that out to be intolerant.
Time began with the bible? God has always been around, thus as long as he's been around, time has been around.
If we are gonna compare morals in Christians and in atheists, that's silly. Morality in Western civilization was a product of Christianity. There was a before and after in morals once Christianity became big. So in all honesty, everyone in the Western world shares the same Christian values. However, what with the recent abortion and homosexuality debates, it looks like morality has taken a Roman era turn again.
