What I hate the most is people from Houston that root for the Cowboys even though they don't know **** about football or watch the games.

That too is the only reason I don't like Dallas. For all I really know, Dallas is almost acceptable as a Texas city, but for Cowboy fans in Houston. I will say this, Fort Worth is pretty cool and should not be penalized for it's unfortunate geographical position.

Houston is actually considered the blue collar city of the two.

doesnt it seem that there is more international influence in Houston, though?

it probably has something to do with the port.

yeah that's probably true. Much more due to the oil industry than the port, though. Lots of French, Norwegians, Brits, Aussies, etc here due to companies like Schlumberger, Total, Statoil, Kvaerner, BHP, BP, etc

LOL at the bias in this thread (naturally, this is a Houston based board). You're exactly right. Slightly different weather, slightly different topography and the biggest difference is that Dallas is not the center of gravity for its area (Arlington, next to Fort Worth, is).

Otherwise, to outsiders from more genuinely distinct cities such as San Francisco, Manhattan, or even San Antonio and Galveston wouldn't be able to tell much difference. It' just a sibling rivalry but in the end both are blood brothers that closely resemble each other. They're even nearly the same size for crying out loud.

I second the FW comment. It does suck how close it is to Dallas / Arlington.

the are a few heavily concentrated asian enclaves in houston. I didn't see an equivalent, but I mostly lived around north dallas/plano for 8 months... Pretentious rich looking people with no real place to go. Agree witb your other points. Parts of houston look real dumpy in areas that shouldn't be.

I can't tolerate the humidity in Houston. Can barely take it in Austin

WHAT? Are you comparing DFW to Houston? DFW is not one city. Houston is vastly larger than Dallas. If you want to compare the DFW to Houston scenario, here you go:

    Houston-Sugarland-Woodlands - Over 6 million people
    Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington - Under 3 million people

As far as land size. Houston almost twice the size of Dallas.

    Houston - 656.3 square miles
    Dallas - 385.8 square miles

This is also why Houston is better: According to Forbes Magazine in 2012 "Houston is ranked No.1 for paycheck worth"

I just took it from here. Didn't feel like doing to much research on it.
