Sorry Manny, if it took you this long to figure out, then you have a long haul ahead of you.

Emotional High Risk signs come flooding across:
    1) Any girl who chooses to stay in a bad relationship stays in it by choice. Whatever the excuse used, she's problematic, and it usually stems from both sides

    2) Shes dating a younger guy! Not that its bad to date someone younger/older, but take a look at the full picture. Its obvious she doesn't know what she wants. Do you want to be part of the problem?

Im just as confused about women as you are, but I don't give them an inch unless they deserve it. The old philosphy ... "friends first" will save you a lot of heartache!!!!

I think Heretic said it best; Ask them right out ... it will sort out the mice of (wo)men.

    Blech!

Now I know why they say you people live "down under!" ;)

PS -- I think Moballs is onto something with this comparison of Barneys. I have never seen Matthew Barney and Barney the dinosaur in the same place.

I think the problem is that you actually remember girls that you went to one class with when you were 15-16 years old.

I only read the first two posts, and that's all I needed.

You really don't need any inter-office relationship.

Go to a bar. Order a double Chivas on the rocks. Or order a Jack and Coke. Or order a ginger ale. Whatever works. Talk to a woman, whether you're attracted to her or not, and be yourself. Be candid, talk about basketball, talk about your haircut, talk about your landlord. Whatever minateu (sp?) comes up.

Act like Seinfeld or Costanza. Talk about the second button on your buttoned-up shirt.

Whatever comes into your mind, spit it out. And get used to it.

That way, you get used to being yourself. No pretense, no agenda, no nerves. That way, you won't need alcohol or a prepared script to settle down.

You'll just feel like talking about yourself, then you'll get bored with talking about yourself, then you'll be geniuinely interested in hearing about the other woman's life.

That, and stop talking about where your dick goes on an internet message board. Then, after a while, you'll stop feeling like 1200 people are watching your ev'ry move.

I think there is a resemblance between your posting and this image of a foam party at B-Bob's Downtown:

I'm sorry if this comes across a little blunt...I think this girl doesn't owe you anything, no explanation, nothing. You have no right to expect anything from her just because you once talked to her on the phone for a long time. It's not like you ever went out or dated or anything at all. By now acting like she offended you and sulking, you come across as a weirdo. She probably liked you as a friend, but how can she go and say "Manny, I don't think we should go out because I have a boyfriend" if you never even really went through with it and invited her? Just because you two once casually talked about having dinner together doesn't mean she needs to inform you every time something changes in her love life. She is probably wondering now why you are acting all weird when she has never promised you anything and when you objectively really have no right to be judgmental with regards to whoever she is dating, younger, rich, whatever. Your reaction of being rude to her now is a bit immature, I must say, because she really hasn't done anything bad to you at all.

All that being said, you should still try to score with her and then dump her (I know you wouldn't, but why not).

Damn you. I thought my gay (yet incredibly depressing) dance club in Alabama with nonsensical theme nights was our little secret. I just don't know whom I can trust these days. How will I face my woman if word gets out about my raunchy club that looks like it was decorated by Benji from the Sound and the Fury? Huh, did you think about that, mr foamypants?
