Drive-in theatres used to be all over Houston. I know, because I went to pretty much every one of them, more than once, growing up and as a teenager. Need privacy with a chick? They were perfect. A lot cheaper than a motel and included entertainment, if it wasn't in the car. Where else could a 15 or 16 year old dude bring a babe for some fun and romance? Daylight Savings ruined them. The VCR was the capper, but having it stay daylight an hour later really doomed them. It was just too damn late before it really became dark. Double features? Heck, you'd be there half the night. I still miss them.
Good idea. In Austin, bars and clubs with good, cheap music are all over the place. See if this chick is really interested in you and the music, or just wants a guy to buy her an expensive ticket.
I know you had to hit the King Center Drive Inn and Prince's next door. It was our weekly family tradition.
Late to this thread but come on man....if she's making demands just on this, then imagine what it'll be like later. My girl and I watch movies all the time. Sometimes I cook, sometimes she cooks. Either way, we both appreciate the other. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones.
Honestly she probably just doesnt like you. And knows youre a cheapo so she suggested no dates doing the only thing you want to spend money on. ZING!
yeah, i think in general, girls want something different, original...they want their guy to stand out so they can brag to their single g/fs... Dinner is a good icebreaker, as you can have great conversation and find out if she has man hands, eats like a horse, or burps... Take her to a museum, art gallery, lounge, live band at a local dive bar or a walk in the park...then tell her you love her...see what happens...
Oh, absolutely! Then there was the Trail, the Hi Neighbor (may have misspelled the way they used "Neighbor."), and a whole lot more. I remember they always greeted you with, "Hi neighbor, how are you?" One time, I answered with, "I'm fine. I've got the chicken pox!!" (and I did) My father was addicted to movies. We went about 3 times a week when I was growing up. Once or twice to a drive-in, and then an indoor theatre on the weekend. A real treat was one of the Art Deco palaces downtown, followed by dogs at the original James Coney Island. My kids will never know what they missed.
I don't like the fact that she's all trying to call the shots now. You can always go to a Rockets game. Just tell her, when she drops the attitude, you guys can go to a Rockets game, heh.
Wouldn't it be cool if they turned the Astrodome into a giant Drive in theater? You could go there during the days too...... DD
