How about a cheaper concert? Go see a local or regional band in a bar or outdoor concert. Something that costs around $10 each. If the band sucks, ditch it, you're not out much.

Depends...as a first date kind of thing, its somewhat preferred to go to dinner and get drinks so that there is conversation. A movie for a first or maybe even a second date kind of puts the "getting to know each other" part on hold.
