i was actually thrilled with the arrival of t-mac for steve. there is actually no hate for t-mac. disappointment ..yes.

    you would agree, no?

a talent like him, whether injury or mental weakness, to have not had more success with the rockets hurts. here's to hoping the team around him can rally this year and do something special.

    4/9/2007,

watch mcgrady defend yao @ 5:35 of this clip
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHLxPCPPc3Q
also, see the game thread on the bbs on that date and see how much respect he earned. he definitley earned mine else I would not have remembered this.

look, tracy with the right mentality, is every basketball fan's dream, his mentality is just too wrong too often.

    No, I got it, dear ***. :)

Too bad David Stern and NBA don't pamper Yao the same way they handle LBJ. In fact, I've long advocated a bodyguard for Yao on the court, a Charles Oakley type with Manny Pacquiao punching skill. We can only dream.

Kinda how I see it also. One's a little country, other a little new wave. Its like the rawbone QB on the country campus who through the years people already know already "aint that bright", but he's vocal and open with everyone and tries his darndest more than everyone when he's on the field. He takes a hit and gets right back up, even dishing them out himself.

Compared to the new kid from the rich city who's seems into his image and keeps to himself. Very talented but doesnt quite get down n dirty with it like what you're used to seeing. Puts up some nice stats, even school record stats, but you kinda wonder if he can take a hit when it counts especially after missing a few games already.

Its not always talent level why certain players are more likeable than others obviously. Ron Artest also quit on himself and his team when he wanted to take time off during the season to promote his rap album, yet he's more a "warrior" than everyone.

I remembered all the criticism Steve got when he was playing for the Rockets. It was never because he was lazy or disinterested. He dribbled the ball until the clock ran out. He'd didn't know how to feed the post. And he really didn't trust anyone besides Yao or Mobley. But he had heart and he loved playing for the Rockets.

Now, TMac, he's got more skills and bb IQ than Steve ever or will ever have. However, sometimes he seems disinterested. He was like that at the end of his career with Orlando. A lot of Magic fans still hate him for that. I love TMac. I think we have a better chance with him than Steve. But no one can say that Steve never gave 100%. You gotta appreciate that.

Steve Francis has a big heart, and he was very warm to Yao Ming. That's why Yao is close to Francis. But it's too bad that Steve never had a brain.

T-Mac is smarter than Francis, but he lacks heart, and his personality is cold, selfish. T-Mac is very talented, but he will never be a true Great player because he lacks heart, grit, courage, mental strength. T-Mac was always jealous of Yao Ming, and last season launched his infamous attack on Yao Ming. This is why Yao Ming and T-Mac will never be close friends. T-Mac is a jerk.

from this thread alone, its evident that there is more support for SF3 than Tmac. funny, i thought i joined Clutchfans to support the team and not just any player. For those who say Tmac quit on Magic dont they know SF3 quit on the Grizzlies even before he was drafted? Isnt that quitting? N ironically, he's now a Griz...everyone is worshiping SF3 like as if he brought us to the NBA finals. i still believe this year we will pass the 1st round and next year will be championship year, come on, have faith in the team we have now

Steve loves Houston with all his "heart", You can hear it in everything he says about the city, We Houstonians love and respect that......

I don't hate Tracy, but not playing 110 percent is a valid reason to hate in my mind.............So all I got to say is, I understand......

It's a huge difference between quitting and having a bad 1st half shooting wise. Just because you're not shooting good doesn't mean you quit.

It's the same reason why fans love Brian Scalabrine. Fan favorites that never get a lot of chance to play but show a lot of emotions. That and also because Tmac doesn't hug Yao the same as Francis does.

T-mac may be one of the most misunderstood players in the NBA. His personality is laidback and smooth and so is his game so a lot of people think he isn't trying. He reminds me of Randy Moss in how he can make things look so easy and people think he is not trying. Yeah I know they say Moss quit in Oakland but he really had no chance either way.

This is a good question, honestly I don't know the answer to this. I loved Steve but once he left the Rockets I believed he was just wasting a Rockets spot. People will make up the argument he came to Houston for less that might be true, but he also wasted the Rockets money by only playing in less than 20 games. He came into training camp out of shape two years ago but got a free pass because the love for the fans for this guy. For Tmac my guess is because of the high expectations everyone has had for him. Tmac does not go walking around with a huge smile on his face like Steve does just about every day. He looks disinterested and hardly shows emotions, and that to most of the fans mean more than talent alone. Another factor is people will always compare Tmac to Kobe but will bash on Tmac because of how much farther Tmac trails with Kobe. In the end I am not a Tmac lover or hater just a supporter since he is on my beloved Rockets team. People will blame Tmac for his failures to get out of the first round but I would dare people to find a 5 better current players than how Tmac plays in the playoffs. Oh well Go Rockets and Merry Christmas!

TMAC has led us to four straight first round exits. We didn't need to trade Steve and Cuttino for that kind of "success". We may have even gotten farther with those two.

People always say TMAC is gonna produce when it counts... in the playoffs... but he has never had any success in the playoffs. The Rocket teams that TMAC has had are lightyears ahead of the teams Steve had... yet Steve gets blamed as a loser, and TMAC as a playoff hero.
