what is a quantum of a meter? what is a quantum of a joule?

    you don't really get it.

This sentiment is not being highlighted enough in this discussion, in my opinion.

Comparing a belief in God with a belief in unicorns may be a logically valid comparison (maybe, maybe not), but it is certainly an inflammatory one. Making that comparison is similar to using Hitler as a comparison, it is inappropriate even if it is apt.

There are probably some who are too sensitive to receive any comparison to a being who is accepted as being mythical, but that doesn't excuse the use of unicorns, tooth fairies and Santa Claus when much less inflammatory options (like Poseidon, Atum or Vishnu) exist.

Both items can be broken down into smaller units. You could describe a quantum birfucation of space, or a quantum of electron energy. Those would be a single planck length and a single electron volt.

You are mistaking meter for length and joule for energy. Certainly you could say a quantum of energy but saying a quantum of a joule and then defining it as 1 joule is just wrong

so are you actually saying the least amount of energy an electron can have is 1 eV? seriously?

The fact that electrons exist and the facts of their various properties were not mere products of speculation on observed phenomena. They were accumulated by a succession of experiments that either falsified or confirmed the prevailing theoretical formulations.

I don't see it that way. People are naturally inclined to look for order in the complex, for cause and effect relationships, and also for a fundamental basis of right and wrong. This concept of celestial beings that have supreme control over nature and the "order of the universe" seems to me to be a predictable explanation given our nature. We are biologically predisposed to explaining things in terms of what we are familiar with. All these religions were established in ancient times when the scope of knowledge of the universe was very limited.

    too strong?

    Atheist Bibles-For-p*rn Swap Riles Campus

(CBS/AP) A college atheist group is offering students p*rnography in exchange for Bibles.

Atheist Agenda calls the exchange "Smut for Smut," prompting prayers and protests from Christian students at the University of Texas San Antonio campus.

    more here.

I have no argument with the logic of your conclusions and have stated previously that I agree.

It is your condescendingly arrogant way of stating your position as an insult rather than a statement of fact that some may find objectionable.

I have found in my lifetime that sometimes people who are rude or insulting don't realize they are behaving as such. This is understandable, forgivable, and easily correctable when made aware.

Those that behave this way purposefully have more issues than can be solved on a BBS.
