Rockets dont even HAVE 10 mil in expiring contracts. Snyder, Francis, Bonzi and Novak dont equal that. Mike James in place of any of those guys besides Novak might get them there, but Mike James is NOT expiring. +2 years after this one. So the Kings would just plain WANT to have Mike James on the team, which is an unlikely want. Good trade for the Hawks, though. They've been point guard starved for a while and this puts them into playoff contention.
Most of these big moves are teams in different conferences, or teams far apart in standings or out of contention. Even the Kyle Korver move was an East/West teams deal. If the Kings felt they still had a shot this year (unlikely, the last Rockets game probably was their playoffs hope ender that led to this), even less likely they'd deal with the Rockets if they were trying to catch them.
That was a great trade for atl. Beno played well while bibby was out, plus atl I think is playoff bound with him leading the ship. Bibby is a very good player since he was a good player in vancuver. Atl needed a guy like him with all those swing players. They want to resign Martin who is one of the best scorers in this league. The King might still be willing to deal some more.
Bibby doesn't play much defense theses days. Even Alston burned him for 23 points. Kings came back with him sitting on the bench, playing tough D on Rockets. It's not just one game that he doesn't play D. Throwing that 13m per year, I'm glad Rockets didn't go for him. Now Mike Miller is a different story.
Ditto Bibby is too expensive. Not only that, Rockets don't need to make a trade. 19-5 since Christmas. So that means we are winning. People complain we aren't blowing out teams like Utah but I'll just say this much. Good teams find a way to win. Doesn't matter if the score is close or they are losing a lead. They just find ways to win.
exactly. for what he's putting up, $13M is a crazy contract that lasts 2 more years after this one. rafer is putting up the same numbers for 1/3 the price. on top of that the hawks give up shelden williams, who will be a starter for the next 10 years. it's not a terrible deal for the hawks because they will make the playoffs now that they have a starting level PG. i bet they will be let down by his play...if not this year then next when the love fest settles. and in 2 years when bibby's done in atlanta, and williams is starting for the kings they might not lke the deal that much.
they hawks might regret it later, but they needed to make some kind of trade because they are on the cusp of making the playoffs in the east right now. i think any kind of playoff appearance will do wonders for the fan base of that team.
We didn't trade for Bibby because we have Rafer. It feels like we aren't going to make a roster move. Let's see how it goes as the deadline approaches.
man, Let's forget Bibby. He isn't the PG we need. He is going the down hill. Even one third of the games he can't play.
