Why didn't the Rockets draft Amare?

Amare is great, and Nash makes him super.

The Suns also have Marion and Johnson, who are IMHO all stars even without Nash. Add in Richardson, who could easily become our 3rd scoring option, you basically get a starting lineup of 4 1/2 all stars. That makes opponents very difficult to have a game plan only stopping Amare.

On the otherhand, the Rockets opponents game plan is clear: stop TMac and Yao and let the not so good role players beat them, or vice versa.

I am curious to see how the Suns do with Amare and Marion, both of whom are max players based on current market value. And JJ can at least get 9 million a year from other teams.

    Actually, yes.

Wow. End of discussion (and credibility) right there.

Yao vs Amare is arguable, mainly because Amare rarely sees the double teams that Yao sees every night

In Amare's favor: he usually acts quickly and avoids double teams.

    In Yao's favor:
    - He even gets double-teamed before he gets the ball sometimes. -The Rockets are one of the few teams that will double Amare, as they double almost everyone in the post. Amare has not fared well against the Rockets, but we don't know if that is because he is going up against Yao or because of the Rockets' team defense
    - He has outplayed Amare in most of the games against each other.

Some of you aren't giving Amare enough credit. He's a great finisher when playing a good point guard. This season he's developed the ability to create his own shot in the low post, and a fairly reliable mid-range jumper this season. However, Yao is still significantly better at both these things.

Two things really annoy me about Amare though. He's an absolutely piss-poor defender. Everybody here complains about how Yao gets to places too late and picks up stupid fouls. At the very least Yao is trying to get to the right places. Amare doesn't even try on defense. He was able to get a few highlight blocks this year because this ESPN is in love with him, but just watch a few games. Amare spends all his energy on offense.

The second thing that annoys me about Amare is his cockiness. Even if you go to a Suns messageboard, you'll probably see a few threads about how cocky Amare is. A lot of Suns fans believe the arrogance will stunt his game in the future. They even want a veteran big man to come talk some sense into him.

THE ROCKETS ORGANIZATION IS TERRIBLE _ THEY COULD HAVE TRADED RALPH SAMPSON FOR DREXLER AND THE 2nd PICK IN THE 1984 DRAFT - THEN THEY COULD HAVE PICKED DREAM AND JORDAN AND HAD A BACK COURT OF JORDAN, DREXLER, AND DREAM !!!!! THE FRONT OFFICE SHOULD BE FIRED FOR THIS>>> SOMEONE SHOULD HAVE TO PAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't know why I always feel that Amare's brain is as little as a chicken... don't mean personal attack... just my feeling.

Have you guys seen his jumping and laughing when his teammate missed the dunk? Sure he didn't notice that. But it is really brainless.

    Amare:
    +. Aggressive.
    +. Atheletic.
-. No defense. Nearly all energy on offense.
-. Good support from teammates, Nash, Marion, etc.
-. Offensive team. In such teams everybody gets good stat.

He is not a dominant player. He can make a good team better but cannot make a bad team good.

But I have to say that Amare is much much better than Dirk.

Amare is not dirty. He respects the ref. All I don't like is his brainlessness.

Dirk is floppy. He is not dirty either, but a cheater.

I do like Amare better than Yao. But we may not have gotten Tracy, so oh well.

I didn't say he's a bad player. He needs to play on his own and dominate so that his fans can claim he's a great player.

I seem to remember a long time ago around the 2002 draft, clutch said something about potentially getting Yao with the first AND getting amare by trading the 15th pick in the draft plus somebody for the clippers pick, because the clippers felt like trading down

SlickVik, why didn't you pick the winning lotto numbers last Saturday?!? The numbers were 17 - 24 - 25 - 26 - 33 (33), you must be dumb b/c you could've been a millionaire by now.

Obviously that's a joke, but you can see how ridiculous that way of thinking is can't you? Or can you?

That's an awesome :roll eyes: Willis25, couldn't have picked a better thread. Not just the ridiculous subject but the homophobic leanings towards the beginning make this truly one of the worst threads ever.

its threads like these that make the ZERO thread rating necessary...

I am waiting for slickvik69 next thread

"Why didn't the Rockets draft Rick Fox ?"

or "why did the rockets take Ronald Jones over Matt Geiger"

.... but I will bet that his next blast is going to be ...

"Why did the Rockets take Serge Zwikker over Stephen Jackson?!?!"
