This. He may not be able to jump as high as Vince Carter but he's fairly large for a wing. With practice he could have been better from mid range and on post ups. His strength is in intelligence and communication, particularly in game. That's not a knock on his work ethic, I'm sure he did all he was supposed to. It's just evident basketball wasn't his life.
Because he didn't put in the work to improve, at least offensively. Even Chuck Haes added stuff to his game. I think we have seen too many players develop skills that they didn't have initially to just say someone can't get better at something.
The Grizz traded for Mike Miller in his 2nd year and after the trade Hubie Brown told him to focus more on defense. But what I don't get is, when he gets the chance, he's really good posting up, I never really knew why the Rox didn't go to that more often.
Extremely slow first step and he can't get around players. His game relies on his jump shot, Basically he plays too white.
His defense was overrated by the fans and the media, not by coaches, and he's slipped defensively. He's not a good athlete. However, if he had put in the necessary work and practice into improving his all around game, like some guys in the league do, he could've been a good player, but, as it stands, he's just not a good basketball player, and he's content with that. Chuck Hayes is a prime example as far as how a specialist can improve his game and have more of an impact out on the court. The Chuck Wagon wasn't content with being mediocre like Battier so, with time, he worked and improved and got better while Battier has been regressing.
Yeah right. That guy was big and pretty mobile for his height but all he did was camp on the corner. If he just tried getting a mid-range J and tried to hustle for some rebounds, esp. considering he's a 3, he'd be worth the 8 mil. That guy was just lazy and charmed his way through the team.
