These guys did not want to compete against each other in order to get to a ring. I have no issue with what they want for themselves... a ring. It's the ultimate goal for a player in the NBA. However, as a fan of basketball, it's a shame that those three did what they did. No there is no rule against taking less money to join other superstars in free agency, but I'd imagine that it is frowned upon in the code of competitive spirit. To some, a ring is a ring. To others, winning a ring AGAINST the best competition is more prestigious than winning a ring WITH your competition. Count me in the some rings are more prestigious than others. If LeBron, Wade, and Bosh win a ring in Miami, though an accomplishment, I would not consider it impressive.
