Have absolutely no idea why Silas wasted the whole second half of a garbage tank season playing Gordon and Schroder 30 minutes a game when we had the G-League MVP sitting on our bench. Silas finally played Nix the last few games and we saw that he was a bit too slow for the NBA speed, but it would have been nice to get a fair evaluation in “real” NBA games of Queen as well for the future of this rebuild. Again, just question Silas’ logic of giving an old veteran (Gordon) and a guy who clearly won’t be heare next year (Schroder) almost 30 minutes a game at the expense of valuable playing time (and evaluation time) for young guys like Christopher, Nix, and Queen.
"Anytime you have a chance to play Schroder 30+ minutes, and mix in nwaba into the rotation, you just have to do it." - Silas Probably
The goal of the Rockets was to lose: Mission accomplished The goal of the Vipers was to win: Mission accomplished It could be that Stone or Patrick thought that both teams would benefit from Queen getting big minutes with the Vipers as opposed to Queen taking minutes from Green or other young Rocket players. Gordon and Schröder didn’t play in many games the final six weeks of the season.
IMO, most of the losses are not intentional. Except towards end of season where they pulled guys out of the lineup. (Wood, Gordon and others). The first 3/4 first part of the season, he was trying to win. So he put Gordon, Wood over other guys. Plus showcasing for potential trade suitors. #organtic_tanking
People were already crying for Green Sengun JC etc to get more minutes, until the end of the season. I could care less about Queen. Doubt he gets any real minutes even if he’s called up. Next season though, could be interesting.
Then why even call Queen, Nix or Garuba up if strategy was just sit them on end of bench while jeopardizing Vipers championship season? Rockets FO and Silas have no clue to what they are doing.
While Silas is crying after losses and choosing not to implement his entire system while cautiously giving young players minutes and kowtowing to vets, Abdelfattah is flipping scrub rosters weekly, building winning culture, championship program AND DEVELOPING PLAYERS FOR THE ROCKETS.
Not sure I agree with this. Sure, we'd like to see Nix looking more like 76er Barkley than Rocket Barkley but I don't think the game was too fast for him. He's pretty damn quick for a guy his size and a good coach could exploit that combo quite well, especially considering his court vision and BBall IQ (both of which will get even better).
I blame this man - Coach Silas..... It is lazy and easy to play vets.... you don't have to do a lot of coaching.... while playing younger players is really hard.
They had to see what Schroeder could do and if he was worth re-signing as a future asset. Gordon is still an asset and he has to play to preserve his value. Queen playing time was less valuable than those asset goals
Because G-League MVP doesn't mean good player in the NBA. The only guy I remember winning the MVP and still serviceable is Chris Boucher other than him, everyone else is either gone from the league or stuck in G-League.
True for most part. Robert Covington was a D League MVP. And 76ers big Paul Reed was also G League MVP (last season), I think he will be a good one too.
Sengun, Green, and Christopher played A LOT of minutes. It’s not like Silas wasn’t playing young players.
I've never forgiven this organization for not giving Andrew Goudelock a chance! Ruined our chance at a ring! lol. Amen. Not to mention they probably know more about Queen than anybody since he's been with us (and the Lakers) in summer league and G-League for about 2 years. Meanwhile the armchair coaches have to see them during games so they can make their valuable basketball evaluations. Maybe he'll get his chance next year, but they obviously wanted to look at other things. They did sign him to the two-way, so it's not like they're blind to his abilities.
