Martin is a career 20ppg scorer, and Lin makes him expendable because he got 20 points in one game [yes, I did read all of what you said about Dragic picking up the scoring load - none of it made any sense!]
One contract is an asset(Flynn makes significantlly more and is an expiring contract) One isn't(Lin would have had to have signed for around the league minimum)
Nobody on here that backs him against the Morey Haters thinks he is Albert Einstein or Nostradamus, but his moves have always made logical sense. Has he been right on every move, no, but every move has been well calculated to have the best interest in rebuilding as quick as possible. The only problem Morey has(and he might even admit it), is he has drafts too well in the late 1st round, and 2nd round. Those players and his role players have worked hard enough to overachieve and keep the Rockets out of the lottery. There are tons of excuses you could make for Morey, like being hampered by the contracts of Yao/Tmac, but I wont make them. The truth is he is doing exactly what he should do. He is rebuilding through the draft, focused on trading for all-star calliber players, investing in the young talent that is on their roster, and looking to move players who have peaked in their abilities. Im not really sure what fans like you really want Morey to do that he isnt already doing other than running on the floor and kicking the ball out of bounds to loose games to get that one lottery pick. Take a chill pill and ease up on the man. He's doing as good a job as any other GM would do given the resources he is given to put a championship team on the floor.
I understand what you are saying and don't really disagree, but you are missing my point entirely. The Rockets have much bigger fish to fry. As far as longterm success of this orginization, Having/not having Jeremy Lin is not crucial in the least.
So, are you just not reading, or do you not care what the reason is? And would people still consider this a major fail by Rockets management if, like most other teams, they chose not to invite him to their training camp in the first place?
Yea Lin did it against the Nets. D Williams their prize pnt grd. Isnt D Will suppose to be on of the top 3 point guards in the NBA world (and Olympian) behind Rose and CP3.
Not bad for actually getting 35 minutes to play uninterrupted. And it wasn't like Lin was a ball stopper. Melo 3-15 shooting 11pnts mega star and Amare 6-11 17pnts. So the ball was being moved and the stars got their touches and he still scored 25 and how many pnts in the 4th qtr. Not saying the worlds falling just give a hungry guy a chance to show what he can do. Amare and Jeffries seemed pretty happy with Lin's assist. And 1 turnover in 35 min. Wow a Taiwanese-American running D Antoni's offense and not dribbling aimlessly around.
we don't need a PG as much as the Knicks need one. Kyle Lowry would've prevented Lin from shining. i'm actually somewhat glad that we let him go play somewhere else. but you're right, i'm not happy with Flynn being on the roster at all.
Let's hold off this thread until Lin can do it consistently. Kid had one good game. Don't get too excieted.
Why do these threads continue to gain momentum and have posts when it was simply stated in the first page. He is an expiring contract and has more trade value then Lin does. That is the bottom line of why Flynn is still on this team.
If the Gasol trade were successful, Lin would have been our backup PG because Gragic would have been traded (and Flynn would still be sitting on the bench). So it's all Stern's fault!
Morey is not stupid, he knows Lin is a draw for asians and more $ from asian companies. I was wondering why Dalembert wasn't signed even though he has been in Houston for a few days. I'm positive, if Lin clears waivers, he would of been playing D-League for Houston. This is a move that has to be made, if Morey had to do it again, he do the same because at the time, we need Dalembert.
The Knicks sure know how to exploit a single good game by their new pickup: http://www.nba.com/knicks/splash_new_york_knicks_tickets_UtahJazz_2012_02_04.html
I watched him play for the Rockets and it was obvious to me he was a smart, good all around player. He is a + defender. Flynn isn't and he has a history of problems. He was kept because of McHale and his contract which I accept, but the fact is from a pure basketball standpoint it was the wrong move. Thabeet and Flynn are not better at the game of basketball than Lin is. Everyone knows he made his case to make this team. No one is getting overly excited.
So, has there actually been a satisfactory answer for this question yet, or is it still the typical GARM bull**** where everyone pretends like they actually know something?
