    That is a FAT contract.

6 years is 5 too long and 54 million dollars is 53 million too many.

I would give him another season, I mean sure the guy brings hustle, good work ethic, and is a genuinely nice guy, but what does he really do for this team? He's not even that good of a backup for T-Mac. I didn't know a couple minutes here and there (mostly garbage time) merits a 6-year-54-million dollar contract today.

This is an Isiah-esque signing. I understand why to keep him, but I don't understand why for so long, and so much.

Now with Ryan Bowen locked long term, rockets should definitely need to trade y-mac for a bag of candy..... :D

the funnist part is that all juniors make their arguments seriously and literally with the seniors. great job, clutch.
so for making me no exception, I also stand for the juniors part.

    why bowen? why so much?

Yea, it is a tradition here that on April 1, Clutch posts some far out story about the Rockets on the main page. There are always (it seems) a million people who fall for it - never realizing the improbability of such events happening and forgetting that it is happening on April Fools' Day. Considering how much I hate Bowen, I am glad I didn't see this thing until today! :D

Next year, at about this time, we can re-sign Magic Lamp to the same deal. :)

I post 4 times in this thread and two of them stick. If you had caught my comment at the top of the second page before it was deleted, you would have known it was a joke. Will must of been refreshing this page over and over yesterday while he was on so he could delete posts like mine. You guys are really gullible. I wonder what Clutch has planned for this time next year???

    http://www.clutchfans.net/news/1295/april_fools_joke_returns

Faos, Another Brother and so many other veterans here were clearly adding more truth to the joke by playing along.

The Bowen signing idea, and the "1.4/1.4" quote (which I really thought was funny), were Another Brother's idea. topfive had a great idea about a Yao Ming-steroid story, which I also really liked, but ultimately decided it was too serious.

It was an all-day job trying to purge this thread of posts from people who thought they were the only one who got it, and felt the need to end the joke early.

It would be ideal to discuss the "joke" in the Hangout, but keep it real in the Rockets forum .... but impossible. There's always going to be people who, even with good intentions, will post that it's an April Fools joke. The BBS is really the biggest enemy of April 1 and likely the death of future gags. It was still fun though.

No doubt - what is the purpose of ruining the gag for everyone else?

    Duh.

Duh...I knew most of the vets were playing it up but I also believe a few were caught off guard, 'course we'll never know.
