What's the new bar right across the parking lot from Kung Fu? I've never really noticed it until this past weekend. It also looks like they're tearing up the parking lot at Roosevelt Lounge. Wish they would just demolish that place.

Hey neighbor, it's something Games Bar Grill whatever...it's the same owner as when it was V21. I was friends with a couple of the hotties bartending there before, until I had a major falling out with one. They might still be there but I'm avoiding that place like the plague. I recommend the the brick oven pizzas (if it's still there).

Y'all frequent this area? I'm not too far and have friends around there, but it always seems ghetto to me. It's not so bad by the freeways, but gets pretty rough as you move farther away from the main commercial buildings.

And yes, the 290 expansion is still killing the businesses in the immediate vicinity. Have you tried driving around there? It's crazy and detoured and blocked. Last month, they like shutdown the Mangum exits completely.

As for SRO, I do know that the Houston Air Hockey league holds all their meetings and events there. I wonder what's going to happen to them.

The SRO on cutten and 1960 was the very first sports bar I went to. I was maybe ten years old. I think it was game 2 vs the clippers. We lost that game I believe.

I was there game 2 I believe vs Utah when Hakeem received his MVP award. It was magical. It's moments like that I cherish and remember forever. It was so packed, they brought in televisions and put them on trucks.

The only reason I went to northwest mall was for Macy's and chick fil a. They closed Macy's a while back. And then last year, they closed chick fil a. I have no reason to go.

i live there i hang out there. SRO's crowd was actually picking up. i go to barney's pool hall across where the whataburger is, and yes its ghetto but to each his own. the t bones on tc jester inside the loop does well but its on the edge of the heights.

its not 290 expansion that killed sro. i'm not getting into specifics but that place was very popular two years ago.

i was telling a story last night, that i was in SRO about three years ago. there was a band playing. a woman passed out at the bottom of some steps that lead to the main bar.

her friends spent at least an hr trying to revive her, she was pretty much knocked out drunk. and ambulance from a fire station finally had to pick her up and the band never stopped playing the entire time.

i was sitting a few feet away watching the entire time, it was crazy.

I know its not 290 expansion, rumor is that the very tejano club el chapporal that had moved into the empty movie theatre that was actually a country western club a few years ago is moving into SRO's space.

as a matter of fact, if i had REAL MONEY i would look into redeveloping the mall

yes, the mall died because its exactly in between the galleria and the only mall that competes with the galleria, memorial city.

speaking of memorial city i can't believe how long it took to redevelop that mall considering the area its in. i-10 expansion helped carry memorial city mall redevelopment to the next level.

its not 290 expansion btw, its a spur to skip 610 from i-10 to 290, and it can help the area redevelop also. it you made nw mall nice again, you have the entire heights area and oak forest not to mention the east end of spring branch as a customer base.

for the record, ike was the final straw for that macy's

Didn't that Tejano club close? So it's not like everything was great, though it did seem packed on the weekends. And Northwest Mall is more of a triangle with the Galleria and Memorial City, not in between the two.

The warm patio at Canyon Creek was nice tonight. Seriously love that place. Buckets of beer, friends, catfish and old school country on the waves. Texas baby, yeah I'm lit. Means I completed the mission.

I only like onion and only during the day. Cottonwood and that Brooklyn Athletic Club are worth a look if you like the creeks.

saw the guy from pearl bar again last night. i brought up sawyer park, he said that the new lofts across the street they built blocked the upstairs balcony view and that really hurt their business.
