Still not open, and I'm still not positive as to the opening day.
I've heard anywhere from late Feb, to mid-April. Once I know a date, I'll let all you guys know.

And as was stated in the Traffic thread. HOLY MOLY...the girls.

But anyway, back to the topic at hand, I myself don't know the opening day for the store on 59/West Belfort, and I'll be moving there as soon as it opens. When I find out, you guys will find out. :) Some of the deals I've rung up are RIDICULOUS. Last week, Maxtor 200 gig HD, 7200RPM, 8MB Buffer, 79.99. No Rebate required. Just insane. 15 bucks for a spindle of 50 DVD-Rs (or was it DVD+R, either way, both are usually ridiculously cheap)

Today someone bought some CD/DVD authoring software, 79.99, with a 50 dollar mail in rebate. He was so happy, didn't even know about the rebate. Haha. it was funny.

Note to all you jokesters here. If you EVER come up to me, and I know you're from CF.net, and you hand me a traveller's check...I'll shove it down your throat. Those things are a PAIN to get cleared. I guess that's the whole point of them, but still.

In about 2 weeks, I better see a bunch of you at the store and screw what number register the person at the podium tells you. You come to ME.. By then I'll be making commission.

Funny, I just got done building my new A64 3200+ system along with a gig of Crucial. I went the new Nforce4 route though, and got the Chaintech VNF4 Ultra board. Something you should be aware of....the deals that Frye's usually has on the A64 are the older socket 754 chips. I wanted socket 939 and pci-Express, so thats why I went with Nforce4.

For nearly all computer parts I also much prefer newegg. It seems their prices are still lower, or at least that of the after rebate price at fry's. In particular they seem to be much cheaper on name brand products.

Still frys can have some great deals and its really nice to have a place that has that great of an inventory nearby. It completly blows away any other place in the Houston area.

Microcenter is underrated. Newegg has some decent deals, but I use it to gauge prices at other stores.

Another great site is Zipzoomfly.com, fomerly known as googlegear.com. Great prices, customer service.

I thought Fry's was really cool too the first time I went there, and they'll do in a pinch....especialy for tools. But, the way they have it set up to get motherboards, RAM, etc. is ridiculous. Highly understaffed in that area. Not to mention their prices are NOT in any way better than Newegg or Zipzoomfly. No tax and no shipping (most of the time)? I'll take that any day.

after revisiting Fry's last night, I would like to revise my statement.

They have sick prices when they have sales...their normal prices are higher than Newegg.

I went last night to pick up that mobo and processer, but left empty handed

They were $175 and $149 respectively at Fry's, while they're only $145 and $103 at New Egg with $1.03 shipping.

and yeah, some places are cheaper than New Egg, but none of them are as dependable, reputable, or have as good of customer service.

I can not answer this of course. I would not count on it coming down real fast.

Lots of cool stuff on the unit, and if you compare it to other hand helds and all the upgrades etc you have to buy, we are in the same neighborhood.

Zipzoomfly is a great site. When I ordered my new parts, I got everything from Newegg except the processor, because it was about $40 cheaper at ZZF. Their customer service and prompt shipping was just as good as newegg's.

Supposedly early to mid February. February 11 was the last date I heard. I'm eagerly awaiting it.

Makes ME feel like I am at a warehouse because I am afraid their ASBESTOS stuff is going to fall on me... what gives with the NASTY-looking entrance, too? They can HIGH-TECH it a little and make it look modern... it looks like a LOG Cabin...

My uncle buys ALL his stuff from there just because he is close to it, but he always has to return stuff because it doesn't "work on his computer"... no one warns him about that... I agree with Drew-D-O-G

yea.. for those who don't know... Fry's in California is known for their bad service. They cheap if you compared them to Best Buys and Curcuit City, but that's about it.

Another problem with Frys is that most of their boxed hardware have probably been handled and resealed and are being sold at retail.

There are deals that rival WalMart's rock bottom prices scheme, but if its more than a 30 mile drive, ****it.

Fry's sucks except for their big sales.

    Microcenter is ok.

    I hate technology.
