Also you admitted he is a third tier player with a max contract.

Sadly still it was not good management at that time. They should have traded for a better guy at PF. Chuck is good but he doesn't rebound as well. We could have gotten a bad rebounder.. that is where we lost the series against Utah the first time.

fixed.... a better rebounder was necessary
JVG made the mistake that cost him the job!!!
We could have been better without Alston and Hayes as starter...would love him on the bench
Fck ....D. Fisher.... always playing against us....

Tsakalidis and Spanoulis in the inactive roster

Yeah... this is coming all up again.....
We lost by a couple of missed rebounds..... this was too much....... I mean people blamed mcgrady and that silly guy said its on me! Its because we had no Lowry and a normal 6'10 PF could have grabbed boards...no offense Chuck .... friggin Juwon

And it all went down from there

Take off your homer glasses and read the post below. Can't wait to hear your spin on this one.

Excellent point...This is another fact that flies in the face of the "logic" used by those that criticize Gay as a player and his contract.

No matter what some Clutchfan' homers think about Gay and the deal Memphis gave him, he obviously has tremendous value in this league if a team is willing to offer a top 4 pick for him. Despite multiple attempts to move up in the draft, Morey and all the "assets" he's collected over time haven't been able to do what Gay alone as an "asset" could've done for Memphis. Rudy Gay has way more value than anybody on the Rockets.

And what if Battier was not there? How do you know what would have happened? Maybe those rebounds would not have been of any importance, butterfly effect my friend. Also how do you know what was going behind scenes, what if the Rockets could not land a pf? You're just reaching.

At that time everybody knew Jeff was not playing the rookies.... that was part of the problem. No offense.
He wouldn't have played Gay. Spanoulis never got his chance, though he sucked.... maybe he would eventually become a bench guy ....never know.

Gay would not have been on this team if we did not trade for Battier. Rockets did not want Gay.

Thats what they are saying. If they wouldn't get the deal done for Shane, Gay would still be on the team. Bet on it. You don't throw away a lottery pick just because you don't like it.

Neither were impact players in their first years and now they are complimentary pieces at best.
    Gay is better.

Yeah you can say that now, it is easy once their careers have started to play out. Draft picks are unknown, not many players are a sure thing. Rockets opted for the defensive veteran who can potentially guard three positions, shoot the three ball and was great at the high post past. Injuries ruined there chances. T

Ultimately the posts whining about Gay are moot since Rockets were not going to draft him for themselves, the complaining is pointless.

I am not the Gay lover here..... there are others ;)
I am saying I was ok with the deal. JVG didn't play any rookies. Would have wanted to see Vspan develop over Alston over the long run. The Utah series was his downfall..... Now he is happy with National Television thats good.

Rudy Gay was good enough to be selected for the 2010 Olympic Team, and wina Gold Medal( Nobody on the Rockets is getting a call from Jerry Colengelo)

What the Rockets did by trading Rudy Gay for Battier, is the equvialent to the OKC Thunder trading the #3 pick( which was James Harden) for Mike Miller.( SMH)
