Those are all American territories. Follow the conversation or leave it be. I've spent 4 month in Pakistan and loved it. That's in Asia and if you disagree.. you're racist.

Yes it is difficult to understand. Not all Chinese people agree with the governments opinion and not all NBA fans agree with Morey.

If HK is Chinese then all those protestors are Chinese too. So Morey is supporting some Chinese people. But not all.

    It's complicated.

Exactly. That was my point to the guy generalizing Chinese vs Americans. Generalizing the whole culture is just wrong.

If everything is so great and territory cohesion is super important , why don't make the changes necessary for the HK people and Taiwan people to want to join you ?

Why compromise when you have the might to enforce adherence?

Morey don't need to apologize for $hit.
If anything China needs to apologize to the US for making Zion's shoe.

The people in China shouldn't be able to read Morey's tweet in the first place. It's like little Danny went to Pornhub and found out that anal offended him. And Daddy banned the internet.

I think you are misunderstanding the issue here. Ill show you an example that’s closer to what’s going on.

You and friend A are of good relationship. Then one day, you notice that friend A is abusing his children. You inspect his children, and they have bruises, and are starving to death. Friend A gets mad and says he can abuse his children because he doesn’t think it’s abuse.

Would you apologize to friend A?

China is bigger than the NBA, and more important. However, human rights is more important than China.

Is that really so complicated to understand?

F**K the Chinese Government! They are a major human rights abuser, the hide the truth from their people. They steal our intellectual property, they use slave labor, and they are a terrible government. I am happy that Daryl Morey stood up and said something, and I am happy with the stance that Adam Silver has taken. China needs the NBA way more than the NBA needs China.

I'll just leave this here. The Chinese visitors here probably can't even view it.

Europe? That's awfully close to China? How do we know you're not a Chinese mole?

So basically what I get out of this is he kept saying "we" for USA and China. He should be a shill for the Chinese government. Secondly he keeps saying nothing is more important than the sovergnty and integrity of his nation but the Chinese are constantly trying to take from other territories around them and trying to control international waters.... So exactly why should anyone care about his point when his government is constantly infringing on the rights of other nations?

Under the "one country, two systems" formula, Hong Kong became part of one communist-led country but retained its capitalist economic system and partially democratic political system. China is slowly chipping away at the democratic freedoms Hong Kong has. The extradition law gives the Chinese government a way to control freedom speech, meant to further prevent Hong Kong to lean towards a more democratic government, which is what a majority of HK citizens want.

I watched it and I appreciate hearing another persepctive, but this is a dumb perspective that I don't even feel like breaking down point by point.

Apologies are for people who are actually WRONG.

Personally, I've come to think the NBA should just walk away from China and all that revenue. There's no way to win this situation without looking like you're sacrificing principles for money. So pull the plug now and give that government the middle finger it deserves for being so petty and whiny.

Instead, immediately focus your efforts on other, friendlier parts of the globe that will be similarly receptive to basketball. Sure, you're dropping an audience of 1.4 billion, but you emerge with your integrity still intact, and there are other markets to tap that will make that money back in the long run.

Suffer the short term to prosper later, and keep your dignity.
