Two knocks when he was in Philladelphia, when they realized he wasn't going to be worthy of the #1 pick. He refused to spend offseason time working on his game. In keeping with his Mormon faith he spent the time proselytizing. While one can debate the greater value of this attitude, it unmistakably prevented him from developing new skills. Hakeem was a perfect example of how important improving yourself in the offseason is. Anybody remember him airballing his first two freethrows? All of Hakeem's skills, except for shotblocking and fouling were developed after he was in the NBA durring the offseason at Fonde. He was extremely meek. Again, he may be a better person for it, but not a better basketball player. He wouldn't fight back or get mad if somebody pushed him around, and he took losses in stride. Being angry was not an acceptable state of mind to him. I seem to remember an old Barkley ad - The meek may inherit the earth, but they won't get the ball. That about sums it up.
what's good about ming is he has giant legs. they don't look like toothpicks like some other centers..
let's remember this is a highlight ... perhaps one of the few highlights you can find for shawn bradley online, although there might be some blocks he wasn't that great back then and he was never that great... even robert parish at age 40 made the highlight reel with a steal and coast to coast dunk .... we can't dig that out and talk about how good he was at age 40 ... btw someone was discussing hakeem and who gave him trouble and I think they mentioned shawn bradley ... honestly this guy never gave hakeem problems... he played on such poor teams that hakeem didn't have to over exert himself... i remember one game where the result was such an after thought and the sixers were just trying to get dana barros over 50 points or something loll....those rockets teams weren't about personal stats...
I don't know about not being angry, to me Bradley, esp. in the latter years, seemed really angry when he was out there, always getting into with other players.
