meh, why dont u use the search and find a post when i said i didnt like the pick.

vivid, what i said was raw numbers cant justify athleticism nor ability. There really arent any numbers for flexibility. When u used the amare comparison, thats when i brought it up. if we use landry vs hill and on the court u can see it. On paper, hill probably measures out better than landry, but even as a rookie, you can see the explosion landry has over hill. Its something that guys have or dont. I used chase vs wade and carmello as a point of reference also. I wasnt talking about performance between the 3. The suddeness and explosion is a huge seperator between being good and being an all star.

for comparison john wall is the fastest player in the draft.

for comparison hayward's max vert like 5 inches shorter than wall's.

also, for the OP vivid you gotta remember that amare's no-step vert at 32 inches and his max vert at 35.5 inches. there had to be something different with how they measured max vert then.

The thing that I'm most impressed by is his character as it's been revealed in his work at Kentucky and what he's said, and hasn't said, in his first interviews as a Rocket.

There has been no talk about having a "chip on his shoulder" like so many other players. A motivation I find dangerous at best as it might lead to the player turning on the team he currently plays for as he works to show his percieved detractors how wrong they were to undervalue him.

Something I have heard in these first days is his "humility" marked by a recognition of times he's failed in his life and the work it's taken to succeed in his life.
I have also heard that he wants to become (and expects of himself to become) an elite player.

I seem to remember Carl Landry having a problem with motivation early in his tenure with the Rockets but when he "got it" he started to play up to his potential.

IF this guy is the combination of Amare's size AND Chuckwagons work ethic and basketball smarts then we will have a VERY GOOD PLAYER FOR MANY YEARS TO COME. I for one am going to be very excited to see how this young man fits into our fantastically assembled team. :)

So basically you agree that Gordon Hayward is the more explosive leaper (no-step vert). Hayward also beats Al-Farouq Aminu in both no-step & max vert lol. I wonder which one of them is the better athlete.

David West is better than Landry and has less explosiveness.

What would Patterson need to do to or improve upon to:

    i) reach Karl Malone's level

    or

    ii) reach Carlos Boozer's level

    or

    iii) reach David West's level

    or

iv) reach Elton Brand's old level

    ?

As long as we have a shoot first point, no one is gonna be a star.

Brooks is better off as a 6th man. I like Lowry as a backup PG,but we don't have a true starting PG.

the only way he'll surprise people is to be like shelden williams. like williams writers have been going on about how he's ready to play, a safe pick, harping on his high character, generally loving the pick.

everyone is expecting him to be a sure thing.
