People were saying that dwill was not going to resign with the nets when he's was traded last year....$$$ issue was apparently enough to resolve that situation. It could just as easily happen here. No other team that he wants to go to has enough cap room to sign him outright next year. Right now the rockets have the best offer

By this time next year one or two of our young players will have a LOT more value than they do now. Others might depreciate in value like Morris did. But it's simple necessity, like the Clippers having Aminu and Eric Gordon back in 2010, that someone will step up.

At that point Orlando would have a fuming Dwight who just wasted a year around a bunch of overpaid vets and tanking misfits, looking at resigning with Orlando for 24-30M more, or signing outright a max deal with the only other good teams that have space under the cap. Namely, us and Dallas.

Under that scenario, Dwight would leave. Orlando would be killing itself keeping him.

The most interested teams have tried for months to prepare themselves for the opportunity to trade for him this summer. Now the focus is shifting to trying to assemble the best possible line-up to start the season. Probably they'll try again to be in good position come trade deadline. That's why I think the trade occurs either now, or by the trade deadline, and as pointed out the price for Howard will only go down.

if they keep Bizzaro, orlando is going to delay getting a top 3 pick by a year.

Has Orlando even hired a head coach yet? I think they're waiting to get a coach and see which of our rookies he likes the most, since Morey has already told him he can only have 1.

The waiting game ensues. Orlando is hoping some other suitor appears to drive up the price. It has been reported that they may wait until the trade deadline to make a decision. I don't know whether to be happy about that or not. However I do not believe they will be willing to roll the dice and start camp with Howard on the roster. At that point things could get really ugly.

Nothing was going to happen until Asik was signed. This whole Howard thing has been totally FUBAR'ed so far. I truly have no idea where it is going. The Magic waited until 4 days before the draft to hire a GM. So absolutely nothing good was going happen. Hennigan did not even have his first conversation with Howard until after the draft. The Magic organization and their fan base probably both need a serious dose of Xanax. Are we going to see an entire franchise melt down?

On the other hand the whole shenanigans puts Morey and the Rockets in the drivers seat. The Rockets have more than enough assets to make a deal happen. But it looks to me, with all the odd leaks coming from the Magic's organization, that Orlando is in complete disarray. The Magic are between a rock and a hard place and have no exit strategy. This is not going to end well.

The Rockets on the other hand are sitting on a tipping point. Go for the gold with Howard (yes he makes that much of a difference) or tank? Without Howard they march into the season primed to tank. They will also have the money next summer to try and get 2 max contract players. With Howard, Morey has his work cut out for him. The Rockets would need to surround Howard with much more proven talent. In math language this is a np-hard challenge. No telling where it is going to go.

As Redd Butler said, "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn."

@jrudolphsports (who is the beat writer for Magic) stated today was going to be an interesting day in Orlando in which Adam Kennedy retweeted but Rudolph been saying that since June

Because there are no LA/NY teams in the mix right now. For the national media, it's either news about a LA/NY team or there's no news at all. Hence, there's no news at all.

I don't know if it's posturing , but both teams have indicated they're done for now. Morey tweeted that he's ready to roll with the team we have now, and the Magic FO have indicated that they're going to wait until Feburary to make a trade.

I'm fine with this. Ready to go with the rebuild. If we do somehow get the 8th-9th position and 14 pick again (unlikely) with these talented rookies, that just means this team is in for a terrific future as they develop. If we finish worse, then we get a decent draft pick. It's all good with me.

Have you heard of "calm before the storm?" I feel something is brewing within the next few days. DH will make the Decision 2.0.

Hope he or Hennigan wont call a press conference like LBJ.

Because there's actual basketball news to talk about: the Olympic team. Now we don't have to listen to "Where's Dwight gonna go?" all day long.
