He showed on the bootleg that he can do what Schaub did but better and on the 2nd td he showed us something that schaub cannot physically do.

Cool. I think I'm just having trouble reconciling that the Texans may have stumbled into their next QB. I think it's more of a baseball thing... I'm just always dubious of flashes of this nature. He's not *this* good... so what is the mean when he eventually returns to it?

Theirs certain plays that show me he is the real deal.

Running on two deep safety look.

Scrambling and making throws on the run.

And arm strength off the back foot.

    Stud.

What if he is this good, and he's only going to get better?

I say it's possible because the two greatest correlations for QB success in the NFL are these two statistics: # of starts in college, completion to interception ratio.

Case Keenum is top 10 all-time in both.

He looked good in pre-season and all throughout camp as well.

Several things... AJ stopping in the middle of the route; that alone is the very definition of, "Oh, s***; he's chucking it...." And then if you watch Case (NBC had a replay from behind, near field level) - there was *no way* he saw AJ. He might have known there wasn't a safety over top - but he absolutely threw that ball up in the air.

A deep incomplete pass isn't necessarily a bad thing. He just can't be reckless with the football. But chucking a ball up like that...and having your WR make a terrific adjustment on the ball to turn it into a big play - stuff like that makes me cautious that what we're seeing is more illusion than reality and that the NFL will catch up to him (remember, with limited film, the book on Keenum is that his arm isn't very good so teams aren't playing safeties over top - that's going to change quickly).

AJ stopping is only a sign of it being improvised but again good QBs improvise and throw their WR open all the time. Not a negative. I can't comment on NBC angle (i did not catch it) does anyone have video of said angle and sequence?

Also i agree that safeties will be more cautious with Case over the top but a good QB will adjust and start hurting them underneath when the defense opens up. It goes both ways. I agree that its too early to be sure if Case will turn into the real deal but the early returns are thru the roof.

I watched Case his entire career at UH and he was always vastly under rated as an NFL prospect. His arm strength has improved, but he has always been more aware and had a better feel for the game than Kolb (a second rounder). Case was a far better college player and his skills were much improved over the course of his career.

I don't think anyone can say they KNEW that Case would be a good NFL quarterback, but those that followed him closely knew he deserved a shot and are not floored he has thus far done well. I saw players like Gannon and Garcia that were put in the proper situation, and did well and believed that Case mentally would be able to produce... he could scramble well and made very solid decisions, he seldom turned the ball over.

He will go underneath... he did it in college and honestly he is better at that than the deep ball. He is excellent at buying time and making an accurate pass. He is someone that will make smart decisions.

Then they're going to have to build a Case Keenum wing in Canton, OH because he's setting a pace unlike any other QB in the history of the NFL.

Peyton Manning holds the SEC record for lowest interception percentage and ranks 69th all-time in pass attempts... and he threw 2 TDs and 6 INTs in his first two NFL starts with a galvanizing 54.9 QBR.

What he's doing is literally unprecedented. I would bet on him getting worse before better, and I don't think there's any chance he's *this good.* I also thought Pagano would have an answer for him, though, so - as always, happy as heck to be wrong...

Case Keenum will be a Pro Bowler next season.

I would bet on him coming back down to earth, then settling and becoming a better-than-average starting NFL QB. Hopefully in a Texans uniform.

Yeah, honestly I wants him to start but I wasn't sure if he was ready.
I think he exceeded what even the biggest Keenum fan boys expectations were. He really is playing out of his mind right now and I love it. The really really promising part though, is that he's played against two playoff teams that are in the super bowl discussion and one was Sunday night, prime time. And it's with a banged up team and a subpar running game.

He will make mistakes. It happens. But I absolutely love his confidence. If he can continue playing even half as good as he has been when he comes back to reality, then I think he can be our guy.
    Can't wait till Sunday!

I don't know why he is playing out of his mind? Lets pretend he was drafted the pick after Russel Wilson. He was a better qb in college and has improved since(Keenum). The argument that he has a weak arm is hilarious to me. Just is not the case. Brady went 6th round. Tom Brady.

Keenum is a smart nfl qb. Second career game, third down and he calls his number on a two deep safety look. Incredible. What a gamer. He throws people open(see second Andre pass).

And last but not least is improvements. He was calling blitz adjustments at the line after hard counts. The guy who struggled last week was improving two weeks later.

    Houston you found your qb.

I stand by what I say. Keep in mind I was talking to Antec and I maybe wanted to tone down his over-the-top cheerleading

I can say Keenum played a very good game made great by AJ.

    After AJ, Keenum was

    11-21, 121 yards. 0 TD

Thats still darn solid 8.5 yds/attempt. Though not exactly carving up the D. I believe "amazing" is the Nick Foles type game. Semantics I guess

That said - Yes absolutely its Keenum utilizing AJ. Hes the one making the reads and catchable throws, its to his credit

If he qualified Keenum would be #2 behind PEYTON MANNING in passer rating. Peyton is absolutely having an AMAZING historical year. Keenum so far has been more Manning like than even #1 pick Manning replacement Andrew Luck has been. I think thats all that needs to be said really.
    '
And yes im watching the damn games (I have watched Keenum LIVE in a college away game). And I like what I see.

I'm on the Keenum bandwagon. I know what a great qb is. Read my last post before this one.
