This...Considering that he faced the 9-0 Chiefs and the 6-2 Colts(who has wins against the 49ers, Seahawks and the Broncos), I think Case was extremely successful. Maybe these losses can shape this young man. Especially to understand that even if youre on your A game, you can still lose... He will continue to learn defenses...he will get better on his hot route passes...and he will continue to wreck havoc thru the air and via the ground with his mobility.

While I do think its good to have a QB competition and would not mind if the Texans drafted a QB in the first round, the Texans surprisingly have bigger issues.

we obviously need to see him play out the rest of the season but there's nothing showing me at this point that keenum does not have what it takes to be a star qb in this league. he has the compsure, leadership, arm, mobility and confindence to do so.

barring a pretty drastic fall back to earth the remainder of this season i wouldn't waste a first rd pick on a qb. shore up that damn defense and OL. oh ya, and can the entire coaching staff.

If you fire the coach you bet your ass they draft a qb in the first 2 rounds. Keenum might be a better fit in Kubiak's offense than what a new regime is planning to do.

Assuming Kubiak returns to full health i don't see Bob McNair firing Kubiak this year. I see him giving getting one last chance with Case and company next year. I know the majority of Texans fans on this bbs won't be happy but i don't have a problem with it. To be honest i'm ok with either decision. I do think Kubiak can win in this league and will be hired somewhere else upon being releaved of his duties in Houston (god i hope its not jacksonville) but i understand that fans have lost all patience with the current regime.

100% agree. If you keep Keenum you keep Gary.

I watched every snap Keenum played in college. I can tell you, the past two weeks he has done things I never saw him do before. He looks very polished. I give Kubiak all the credit in the world for giving Keenum the chance and also for turning him into what looks to be a solid pro.

    Elaborate?

I'm assuming taking snaps under center?

really? i thought he was doing exactly what he did at UH...elude defenders and throw deep. i just didn't expect it to translate well to the pros considering the competition level.

Collinsworth made mention of this on the broadcast as well, abeit somewhat indirectly. He mentioned that they had watched him at practice a day or so prior and nothing that they saw in that practice gave them reason to believe he would be capable of doing what he did on the field last night. It may just be that Case is one of those guys that rises to the occasion. I hope that is true and not that he has just played two of the best games of his life and will be somewhat downhill from here.

His throwing motion is efficient and his release point is higher. His deep ball looks a lot less labored. He runs a pretty damn good playfake and has great pocket footwork, even under center.

When I saw him at UH, I thought "backyard football". Now he looks like a legit professional.

He brought over all those smarts and courage, but added some arm strength and sound mechanics.

Johnny Football needs to be taking notes.

I liked what they said about the combine last night. Apparently he didn't get drafted because he got hurt during the combine "trying to be a track star."

Just goes to show you how scouts put way too much emphsis on the combine. Too many examples to list of players that had great combines and crappy NFL careers. And visa versa.

we call that Het Now! syndrome - total reliance on statistics and numbers over believing what your eyes tell you in actual games.

Anybody else impressed with Case under center? Another knock on Case that he disproves. The guy has proved every doubter and knock against him wrong.

That's my last remaining obstacle... he still has a touch of FI/CI* disease. The second TD to AJ, paticularly - he literally threw that into space; not recklessly, per se (it would have been a long incompletion had AJ not adjusted) - but that's an area, I think, teams might be able to exploit moving forward. The NFL won't let you get away with flinging it all over the field like that forever.

Otherwise, a lot to like. I'll remain cautiously optimistic - but at least the final 8 games will be interesting.

As I assume he's now a lock to be back, it'll be interesting to see Kubiak evolve with Keenum. He'll get no credit for any of this, of course - but I wonder if this has been a giant kick to Kubiak's pants, in terms of seeing his offense expanded in a dynamic manner he never previously envisioned? I can't put my finger on what's wrong with this team (injuries, of course; Bullock) - but if this is the QB/offense we can expect moving forward........ I mean, it looks like a team that can win 9+ games. Man oh man... if Keenum can be the guy... this will be a blip of a year and they'll be a contender again next year....

I just need a few weeks to reconcile that.......

Can we just re-title this thread to "Case Keenum the Great"?

He never had FI/CI syndrome at UH. He was incredibly careful with the ball. I think his new found arm strength, and the fact he is playing with house money, means we're going to see more bombs. If you're gonna go down, go down swinging.

What leads you to believe that Case didn't see that there was no help over the top on AJ80 in that sequence? That's your assumption if you believe he was just chucking it. Otherwise the only other explanation is that Case identified AJ80 in single coverage deep and gave him a shoot at making a great catch. That's what good QBs do.
