Why aren't we allowed to post pictures/gifs in our sigs?

Go to a crappy website if you want to do that.

Aside from what they said above, it adds NOTHING to the site but more bandwith usage and clutter on the page.

Dude, I don't know how many other forums have this many users on game night... or on any night...

It's possible to have the "view signatures" toggled off. So that members who don't want to see it or deal with the clutter, don't have to. While the members that want a sense of individuality, blah blah, can parade around with them.

I don't really care either way, but just pitching in my idea that'll cater to both sides of the argument.

Probably a bandwidth and usage decision as opposed to a "we're better than that" decision.

It's as much a bandwidth issue as anything, and there's no way around that. Bandwidth is shared, so even if you turned off "view images in signatures", you'd still experience slower browsing because of other users.

I would have argued that. But then I realized the amount of traffic that this board gets daily... Maybe limit it to contributing members? Or... maintain the status quo.

Because it's absolutely ugly and there's zero reason to have images in your signature?

Its annoying to have to scroll half page, just because someone has a huge image in their signature-

If you want individuality, I would go for a 75x75 avatar (not animated) above the name.

But this is a great site, and I dont think that is going to change, and I like it like that.

You do know the site can limit the size of the sigs and avatars right? Besides, this is the only forum site that doesn't allow avatars and sigs that I've seen. Its really boring and bland to look at.

This site has been going strong without avatars and pics in sigs, so no reason to add those at this point. For the members who want them, you can always go to another Rockets bbs that has them.

Personally I look for the content of the posts, not how flashy each member can make their profile. Go to myspace for that crap.

Why does it always seem that those posters requesting features or complaining about the lack of avatars are non-contributing members?

This is a forum where words matter most than bling-blings.

Because if DaDakota puts a picture in his sig, nobody wants to see whatever it is in 80% of the posts in any given thread.
