Bingo. And the person who has to think the most on the court is the PG, which explains why Alston and James are sucking the most. With time, I'd expect to see James return to form as a streaky shooter who can knock the air out of an opponent when he catches fire, and Alston return to a decent 3-point shooter who can't hit a shot in the lane to save his life. The weird thing about all this is that the PG most likely NOT to have a shooting slump would be Francis, who didn't appear in preseason to be thinking about Adelman's system AT ALL when he was on the court, preferring instead to execute the Rocket offense Rudy T. designed for him a few years back.
I'd say so, Yes. But I'd like to see more Bonzi-eque cutting from our players and finnish at the rim, the amount of blown layups is just as bad as our 3pters clanging off the rim. _ Blues
actually, 90% of players who have three point range are capable of knocking down the open threes from top of the key. Rafer is the only one who is cold under the basket. Rafer is not that good, really.
I believe the reason we are missing shots is because of the shooting motion that is inherent in every one of our players. The elbow is too far out and we need . . . .. .
Considering we are averaging 90+ ppg without being able to hit many 3 point shots, I'd say no. But there aren't any teams that win easily that do not have a decent percentage from 3 point range.
I agree, they are in limbo, not totally trusting in the new system and realizing that the old one was not good enough either. They will come around.....just give em time. DD
I'm trying to say if you leave Rafer at the top of they key he won't be offensive liability he is now. It is his best position to knock down a three pointer. But it doesn't matter now because this season he simply can't knock down anything. I WAS NOT comparing him to other players, I WAS comparing his shooting from the top of they key to his shooting from other areas of the court. I KNOW he is a bad shooter, but he is by no means a HORRIBLE open shooter (especially from top of the key) in his normal form. Why do people like you always find ways to diss him and nitpick my posts asif to think I'm in love with Rafer, I was just trying to offer a suggestion to help his shooting problem, something you obvious can't do, just continue to whine, please. _ Blues
interesting, last year, we were obviously a team rely on the 3pters, we shot the lights off some of the nights. Oh, I really missed the old times.
thanks. very good stats. damn, Yao and TMAC are hot all over the place, (so far), the new offense is encouraging.
yup, that is the reason-indecisiveness-being slightly unsure-leads to less confidence- subtly affects the shooting. Pass or shoot or drive, got to learn to make the decision on the go and be at ease, go with the flow. I hope within time the learn and see the beauty. You can tell by their body language at times. Look at scola who knew his role so well and went against the best against the world and now he's kind of screwing up. Gotta agree with whoever said about Francis doing well at times cause he really didnt think much about the system and did his thing. And pure shooter? What about brooks, ever noticie his shooting form? pretty damn good. Get his feet wet a little and you may see him surge. Adelman and the team definely needs to strike a balance after giving it more time, if the current system and rotation doesnt bring it. its all about confidence and chemistry.
1. Rafer is a HORRIBLE open shooter because his ONLY hot zone is "the top of they key" where most players (with range) are as hot as him, if not hotter. It is like: Hayes is a bad jump shooter, because his only hot zone is under the basket where 99% of NBA players are hot. "the top of the key does not count that much", that was what I meant. 2. your suggestion wont be working because that was exactly what he did last season unless you think Rafer in last season or playoffs was enough or great. Here is my suggestion to Rafer: make the "under the basket" as your hot zone as your other fellow NBA players do. Isn't this idea better and more realistic?
1. So Bowen and Battier are also horrible open shooters because their only hotzone is the corners? 2. For 42 minutes last season with the top of the key as his only realiable shot, probably not, thats why we have a bench this year and Rafer should only be playing 20-24 minutes. The defense will have to adjust to Wells and James coming off the bench. And yep, we should see a steady rise in his fg% from his recent slump. Good suggestion, all our players needs this suggestion, we've been blowing layups too much aswell. _ Blues
no, they are good shooters. Both of them have MULTIPLE hot zones. Both of them shoot 80% of their shots from their hot zones. They are smart and efficient. Rafer has his own hot zone, but he CAN only put less than 10% his shot there (top of the key), huge huge difference. more?
I am tired of the lies (mike tyson voice) this is ludacris the man hold the rockets all time 3 balls made lol
