Not going to bash Texans they tried. But is there any free agents that can actually still help the Texans within speaking not like Brandon Marshall or T.O.?

I have a scary feeling without any major additions plus the hard schedule....the texans are not going to make the playoffs. I have faith , but I just have a bad feeling about this.

But honestly, how many teams made major additions that are going to be game changing? For the most part, teams will rely on the draft to upgrade and Im sure we'll do fine.

Again dude, no. Most teams that are on the cusp do make a FA/trade push to put themselves over the edge.

Last season, the Saints added a HUGE playmaker on defense in Darren Sharper. The Jets added an all-around animal in Bart Scott and acquired Braylon Edwards. New England added good running back depth with Fred Taylor and took a chance on a guy in a slump like Bodden. Jacksonville aigned a HOF wide receiver with Torry Holt. The Cowboys gave up a ton for Roy Williams to sure up WR and signed a perennial pro-bowl linebacker in Brooking. The Vikings went after Favre to put them in Superbowl contention. The Bears landed Jay Cutler. The 7-9 Bills thought an offensive weapon like TO would put them over the edge.

The 4 division winners from the AFC in the previous season all stood pat (Titans, Dolphins, Chargers, and Steelers). 3/4 missed the playoffs this past season. Same could be said for the Giants, Falcons, Bucs, Panthers in the NFC

All these teams felt they were on the verge of something big and they made a move to improve their status. All those players were SIGNIFICANT. SOme worked out, but some didn't, but every team that moved themselves into the playoffs DID make a move. The teams that did nothing and just went with the draft dropped in the standings.

So far, the teams the Texans are competing with are improving themselves while the Texans have not. Baltimore just acquired a HUGE offensive threat in Boldin. Jacksonville just signed Aaron Kampman. The Jets acquired Antonio Cromartie. The Bengals seem close to a deal with TO.

My comment was in reference to this season...there just arent as many moves this offseason because of the circumstance of the CBA. You named Baltimore, Jax, and the Jets as teams that improved themselves. Bengals went with Antonio Bryant. Honestly, the only moves out of all those that worries me is Boldin. Kampman hasnt had a double digit sack season since 2007. Cromartie is getting added to a team that already had the best defense in the NFL...but they lost a key contributor on offense, which is an area that they needed to improve upon.

So, I'll say it again...for the most part, teams this year will be relying on the draft to get better, not on free agency.

Did you see what I wrote about the previous season? The teams that DROPPED out of the playoffs from 08-09 were the teams that made no moves. The teams that added a significant free agent propelled themselves into the playoffs. I gave quite a bit of evidence that supports it. I don't know what to tell you if you don't acknowledge that.

Dude, and Im telling you that this offseason is completely different than previous offseason because of the CBA. There just arent as many available players. Players like Ryans, Owen Daniels, Shawne Merriman, etc...They become RFA instead of UFA because of the rule that was set in place for the uncapped year. As a result, you see about 60 players that would have been free agents but that are no longer on the market.

Therefore, the opportunity for a team to grab a hold of FA difference makers is just not there. For THIS season, teams will have to rely more heavily on the draft in order to improve their team.

WOuld you have expected the Texans to get a high quality FA if there was no CBA problem? Because I certainly wouldn't

Well, thats a different topic. I think it depends on what players would have been available. Obviously, their track record isnt one that would indicate that they would go after top of the line talent in free agency, but it would still be hard to say one way or another. I could be both hopeful and doubtful that they would.

Hey when the texans are 8-8 or 9-7 or god forbid 7-9 you can be like well if KB had hit that kick or if our QB played 16 games instead of 12 or our WR had not missed so and so games we would be 12-4 and in the playoffs.

I rather texans go all out and if they don't make it fine at least they did everything possible.

Hey maybe they go 12-4 and I sound like an idiot that great at least I can root for the team.
