Why are some people obsessed with getting absolutely hammered?

I don't know about that, at least where I went to school, every weekend was a **** show, no matter who you were

 

Because getting drunk is the cool activity now. No one says "oh cool! you had a few drinks"...it's "man, you were hammered"

I feel like I have a good time with or without a few drinks..but my sister, her goal is to get wasted every time she goes out.

 

I swear....


After I hit 25, the hangovers were horrible and overdoing the drinking became unappealing because of the impending hangover.


Before 25, I could drink vodka like water, take all the shots I wanted and wake up the next day feeling fine.


Now, if I over-drink at a social event, I have to cheat with my back medicine. Percocet cures all.



Still, drinking isn't all what it's made out to be. I'd much rather wake up feeling good and enjoy my day.

I do have friends that still get lit up nightly or on weekends, but they don't accomplish nearly what they could and their days are spent laying in bed with a hangover.

Like many have already said, it's something that just happens. There is no "appeal" to it but rather just drinking and socializing while having a good time.

 

it's fun. people act like how they truly are. walls break down.

 

To get ass.

 

Because:

- People WANT to lose inhibitions to F**K (Especially girls, though they wont admit it). Its easier to do naughtier risky things when you lessen your consciousness about it. "Potentially-Leads-To-Sex" is always a motivator of activities.

- Its glamorized and promoted. (Entertainment media DOES INFLUENCE people HEAVILY). When you have all the entertainment media touting the virtues of getting hammered in song and in video film, its made like its the PLACE to BE.

- Younger people are much more high-risk genetically lol. (You might not sense it now, but you have much more feeling of "invincibility" than older people who start "slowing down" physically.) Young people are constantly told to "get it ALL out YOUR SYSTEM NOW!" and "Live Fast Die Young!" So its easier for younger people in their blissful ignorance to do extreme things.

- Understated reason - because alchohol is NOT classified as a DAMAGING DRUG like cocaine and other hardcore drugs. Its very socially accepted. Its just readily available and affordable. Over-indulgence is much more likely.

But some people really are just messed up and pathetic. I'm with you, I think its overrated. And I'm not a fan of the sloppy drunk person. (I'm not a fan of getting high either)

 

Because it is fun to do in your 20's. The hangovers are not too tough to recover from and it beats the hell out of being the sober guy at the party (plus you can't hook up with drunk chicks if you are sober...that's just wrong).

Got pretty damn close to hammered, smashed a 5/10 (she was the definition of 'meh' but big boobs), had In-n-Out and held off belligerent drunk. Now going to bed. Success.

 

Glad u made it home and we want a pic of the chic u wake up with.

 

Because it is the mechanism by which a 2 at 10 turns into a 10 at 2.
